Starting OUT!!

Please Help I own a 01' Corvette Ocean blue (dark blue color Just like the one top left of the page of this forum)

Now this car has never seen rain very mild swirles and been very well taken care of>

I am interested in starting out doing the polish myself whit a PC or whatever is a good start up for a newbie.

What are things I should read as starting out??
and what products should i buy to make things happen?
I am not worried about the $ I just want good quality products please help ?

Welcome to the site, use the search feature to look up some of the questions that you have. The PC (porter cable) is a manufacture of a orbital sander that is used with foam pads for buffing. There are other manufactures I have a De Walt. They really are a no brainier to use for even the newbie's.

For product I happen to like Poorboys World, you can read all about the many uses in his forum.

There are no magic answers to your questions. Product for your car is a personal preferences so some trial and error is how you learn. However by reading on this forum you will learn what others like and dislike about products, which will help you form what you will start with.

I would look for a pad/PC kit.

I just did my first PC detail and the result were amazing. I did my 2005 Chrysler 300c and my friends 2000 C5 vette. The Vette is black and all I can say is the car never looked so good. The car had incredible depth, clearity and shine. Here's what I bought and used.

PC (Lowes)
Menzerna IP and FPII (Premium Auto Care)
LC pads - Orange and white (Premium Auto Care)
Zaino:
clay
Z7 wash
Z2pro w/ ZFX
Z5 w/ZFX
Z6
Z8

My process was as followed:

Wash - Dawn
clay with Z7 as lubricant
wash -Z7
PC applied:
Menzerna IP w/ LC orange pad
Menzerna FPII w/ LC white pad
Hand applied:
Z6
Z5 w/ zfx
Z6
Z2pro w/ ZFX
Z6
Z2pro w/ZFX
Z8

It was a 2 day process, but well worth it.

I got the Menzerna and the Pads from Dywane at Premium Auto, he's the man. You can also get MF towels from him and he's a great help on the phone. He also offers a DC dicount.

The PC is easy to operate and the products gave me the results I wanted. Make sure you have plenty of MF towels.
 
Thanks so much for your guys's help!! One main question is ive been reading alot about the PC and rotary what exactly is the difference... I guess i have alot of reading ahead of me for products I wonder if there is a good lineup someone uses that works for sure... is every car different or is it just a preferance for everyone?
