I have detailed cars in the past but I don't have to professional tools. IE The PC7424 and the higher end chemicals and or products. I've just used a sears orbital and the regular joe chemicals and products. I have seen very good results from these but I am looking into spending cash to get the right products and tools for the job to get the "knock em on there a$$ shine" for customers and my own cars.

Problem is there are so many products to choose from. I have already deicided to go with the PC 7424 and have looked into the PB products and they seem to do the trick. But when it comes to what pads to use when using the PC I am stumped. Backing plates...pad colors etc. Basically i am looking for a setup on what to buy to begin detailing on the weekends to earn some extra cash. I know alot of it is personal preference as well but most of you learned from trial and error so I am hoping you can help me. For now I want to be a weekend detailer and make a business grow slowly from that. Thanks in advance....

I would get the meguiars pads, specifically about 3 or 4 of the yellow polishing pads. I use these with the PC(and rotary) about 90% of the time. For a applying waxes/sealants I would get one meguiars finishing pad finishing pad. This should get you going until you need more. Their backing plate is nice too and can be purchased through www.premiumautocare.com. They have a package with the pads AND the BP IIRC.
 
i just bought the sonus kit with i think its 6 diffrent pads and 2 bonnets those have worked well but i only use it on my car so i dont use alot of them.

If its just for your car just get one of the kits out there. either the LC pads or meg's or sonus they all work very good.

as for products, its all depends on the condition and color and all that. i really dont know what to tell you on products, Poorboys is an excelent line up of product and you probally cant go wrong there, the klasse twins are also very popular around here. for wax there is p21s or s100 (same stuff) and just a million of other products i cant even think of some examples for you

Welcome to DC . You got the right idea in my book, PC and PB products !!

Whatever line of pads you go with get at least 3 cutting , 2 polishing and 2 finishing. I like lake country but there might be better ones out there.

These pads are all foam correct. And you apply your ssr..wax..and sealants directly to them and use a terry cloth or MF bonnet to remove product or do by hand???

Sorry im new to this style buffer...LOL stupid newbies eh :hah
 
yes there foam, well u can put it either on the car or the pad, ive seen it done both ways but i llike to put it on the car first, then i tilt the pad just alil bit and swipe over the line of product and then lay it flat, that way it wont sling over u car. i usally just remove by hand but you will see what works for you.
