Starter Car Care Kit (Followup)

Hello Autopians,

I posted a while back looking for help for a starter car care kit. At the time, it was bloody cold up here in Canada, and I couldn't do much with the car other than wash it at one of the local wash bays.

I've slowly put together my 'kit' of stuff for the car, based on recommendations and searches from this board. Here's what I've got so far:

Wash: Eagle One Wet

Wash Mitt: Simulated lambswool (has a thick nap, and I'm very gentle with it, but I'll probably buy a good terry mitt soon).

Drying: California Water Blade and some soft terry towels (no MF yet)

Tires: Meguiar's Endurance

Interior: Generic "President's Choice" dusting cloths (similar to swiffer or grab-it cloths, but cheaper) and Eagle One Interior/Exterior Protectant Lotion

Carpets: Prestone Foaming Carpet Cleaner

I'm planning on getting some Klasse depending on the cost. If I can't afford it (mainly because of shipping, duty, and the exchange rate), I'll pick up some Meguiar's Gold Class in the meantime.

After washing, the surface of the car feels very smooth, and I don't think there has been that much time for contaminants to build up on the paint. As my car is only about 7 weeks old, should I bother with getting a good cleaner/polish prior to waxing?

Thanks for everybody's help!

If your car is that new then you probably don't need the cleaner. If you have the time and enjoy spending it with your car then it wouldn't hurt it to put some Klasse AIO on before continuing with the rest of the regiment. AIO adds protection and shine on top of cleaning your paint and being a great cleaner. The SG will be eaiser to buff off if you have a foundation of AIO as well.

Good choice on the Prestone. :up That is a great carpet cleaner. I've tried a few different brands and the Prestone is the best hands down.

I don't know where Edmonton is but I'll be up in Toronto in June and I'll be bringing several bottles of Klasse with me if you are interested. Perhaps I could even mail it to you from within Canada. I'll have to look into it.

The Prestone has been fantastic - I used it last night on my car mats, and they're looking (almost) brand new. I'm glad I used a can of Scotch Guard when they were brand new.

Edmonton is in Western Canada, in the province of Alberta, north of Idaho and Montana. Nowhere close to Toronto.

I'm definitely interested in the Klasse, but I'm going down to Texas in June (so I can just have it shipped to me there). :D

I would get some klasse or if you dont want klasse get some P21S paint cleanser and p21s wax. I use the P21s line of products and am nothing but happy. Dont plan on changing. i have heard klasse is great but i have heard it is tough to remove. P21s is great, it lasts, it shines, and leaves a smooth finsih and has easy easy application and removal

Klasse isn't tough to remove. Quite the opposite, actually. I guess if you apply too much and try to remove it wrong then it can be less than a breeze but with the proper technique the Klasse will buff off with ease.

Wow, another Canadian discovered this place :) .

I'd watch your wash mitt, the "simulated" sheepskin ones ususally contain polyester and will leave swirls. You can get genuine Austrailan sheepskin mits at Canadian Tire for about $15.00 CAN.

If you want to clay your car (you should try it, never ceases to amaze me the difference it makes), you can get Mothers clay kit's at Canadian Tire for about $25.00 CAN.

If you ever want to give Zaino a try, the Canadian distributor is at http://www.car-fanatic.com. Mike's a good guy to deal with, I've ordered from him 3 times and always got great service.

WOW... Thanks jimmyS!

I almost bought it from the states. They have what I want and they send it Puro next day to Ontario and Quebec! WOOHOO!!!

Zaino, here I come :D
