start over?

i just washed my car yesterday(meguiars gold class), along with polishing(meguiars deep crystal) it and putting 2 coats of wax(meguiars nxt). next time i wash my car, however, i plan to "start over." the reason is that i realized i should have used a clay bar first to remove all the little crap that is there now. so next time i wash my car, how would i strip the wax? and should i do it like this?

-strip wax

-wash

-dry

-clay

-polish

-wax

Hakuna Matata, my friend.

Next time you wash, follow with your claying. Follow that with your preferred prep technique. Clay is effective through your protective layers.

ok so step-by-step, i should:

-wash

-dry

-clay

-wash

-dry

and do i have to polish and wax my car again?

oh and what a wonderful phrase:D

jaberocs, next time try washing, then before drying, use the water still on the car to clay, adding soap or more water as lubricant for claying as you go. This way you accomplish both and eliminate having to dry you car twice. Hope this helps!

Heh heh, well, opinions vary on this  IMO the only time clay is effective through LSPs is when you clay so aggressively as to be doing it incorrectly. I spot-clay with every wash and it has *very* little effect on my LSP. Yeah, I can "clay through" them if I try, but when I do that I feel I'm doing it wrong (and it takes a deliberate effort to do it).

jaberocs- Unless you're really enjoying this detailing stuff, I'd just wait until your LSP could use redoing/refreshing and clay it then. That's a lot of work to do over again so soon (this sounds a bit like another of my Autopian Heresies, huh :o ).
