stained wheels with APC, ideas?

I diluted some APC to clean my tires and wheels, yet it managed to etch two of the wheels

not sure if they are coated or not. This is my 1996. Jaguar XJS Any ideas?
 
I only use P21s gel cleaner and sometimes on the really bad ones (the inside of wheel) i mixed it with amazing roll off and then let it sit for about 15-25 mins before using my brush, so far no problems. Also the APC was probably to strong for the rims to use on.
