Stained Trim... I'm running out of options.

Are you sure its stained and its not paint thats worn off? I would try IPA first, if it's a stain. If it needs repainting then you need to repaint it.
 
Simple. I face this problem frequently on customers' cars.



While the entire car is wet, do this:



Use full strength MPC, and a stiff toothbrush. Brush lightly but vigorously. You shd see lots of black **** coming off. Rinse and repeat.

After drying the trim, wipe it again with nail-polish remover. Won't damage the trim.

Then, you can apply some Klasse SG or Jeff's Acrylic sealant or Zaino Z2 or appropriate products.

Stuff that's fixed such trim for me:



KAIO; Vanilla Moose; 1Z Paint Polish or Metallic Polish or WaxPolishSoft; Pinnacle Paitwork Cleansing Lotion.



Or try Griot's Rubber Prep (true miracle product) but keep it off glass or you'll really be sorry.



All of those have worked on trim that was *MUCH* worse-looking that yours.



Be careful if you use a toothbrush, some will mar the material, sometimes severely. I like natural-bristle toothbrushes for this, soaked in something like Meguiar's #34. But even then you sure don't want scratches from the bristles so be careful.



As gigondaz said, you'll see lots of black [stuff] come off. Keep using [whatever works] until there is minimal black transfer, but don't expect *zero* transfer and quit when the job is done.

I would definitely try this first before spending money to paint but he's right if it needs repainting you have to repaint.
 
I have some bad trim myself, and just tried the toothbrush and APC followed nail polish remover. I did almost nothing. I got better results with WD-40. So far, I have got my best results with Mr. Clear Magic Eraser.
