Anyone checked this out yet? It was posted on VWVortex in the detailing section by Stratmosphere Pete.

We will be here August 1st as the new forum sponsor on Vortex. Check out our new Stage 1 product that helps you to left dirt from your finish before you rub it in when you hand wash. -Pete, Stage Car Care

Actually, if you look at your car you can see fine swirl and scratch marks accumulate over time. If you wash a dirty car, you can't help it. You can get a free sample if you pay the shipping and try it out. It works. It's just not something that people have thought about before, but now they are. -Pete

:nixweiss

It does look interesting however my free sample would cost $49 to ship to the UK. I think the shipping of my PC cost about that.

Would a shampoo spray for use before rinsing not do the same thing?

One would think so. Maybe someone on here will be brave enough to tryit.

It looks like they have other products in the works too, however this is the first.

Who knows, maybe we're watching a detailing revolution in the works ;)

Any idea on how this stuff is supposed to work any different from a "regular" pre-treat (like with the shower-foam gun)? I agree that the "dirt across the paint" issue is a major source of marring, but I sure don't agree that it's inevitable unless you use their stuff (see my "Non-Marring Wash Technique").

I wish they'd provide some "hard data" about the product (didn't see any on that link).

I've done business with Stratmosphere, and they're OK people (I knew a guy who was best buddies with one of the owners), but as with anybody selling anything, you gotta apply a little critical thinking before you fork out your $ ;)

From the video it's spray, wait 1 min and rinse.

This looks very interesting, but the video comparison doesn't make sense. They're doing a side by side comparison and the other side is just sprayed with water. Why compare a stage 1 treatment against a side that's just sprayed with water? I think comparing stage 1 with a side that's sprayed with car wash soap would be a better comparison.

uh oh....I think I might have just volunteered myself :D. We'll see.

Well the video shows the guy spraying the solution on and rinsing it off, how this is different from a pre-treat application is beyond me unless it's mystically melting away the dirt with some chemical :D

It'll be interesting to hear about if anyone gets their hands on it.

That's what I think too.

That's the free 'trial' anyway, but I think Strat is east coast, so it travels too many zones to make cross country free samples worth while.

That's a good question about the wax. We are long-time Wax and detail freaks. I've done tremendous testing with Zymol, Zaino and Griots wax. The formula is pH balanced so that it doesn't affect your hard work (your waxing). It uses a surfactant to encapsulate the dirt away from the finish. Try one and see. It's the way to go. It's the result of a lifelong frustration I've had about this scratching. It can really help you. -Pete

Now it sounding more like a "QEW" type product.

Looks like I'll be getting a sample free from Pete.

Jesstzn turned down the offer on vwvortex, so I said I could give it a whirl and review it.

I'll let you know when I get it.

Well I got my pre-wash today. I actually got a full 32(?) oz bottle w/ a spray head.

I'll likely end up using it tonight or this weekend and will try to post an indepth review as soon as possible. Hey when it's free you'll try anything? Right!?

I turned it down because I had nothing to test it on .. I wasn't about to use it on my freshly buffed out / polished / Zainoed & FMJ topped swirl free black B5.5.

The site looked like an infommercial and no info was given as to its composition and when a few of us inquired a little and asked for an MSDS the thread was deleted and a new on opened and locked ..

I guess your not supposed to question the sponsors.

Well for the record, I know Pete didn't delete/lock up that thread. Sean did. Not sure what the dilly is.

It's odd looking stuff, looks radioactive green.

My hatchback will be a perfect test mule though, the back is a dirt magnet.

I look forward to hearing how it works. I'm in a situation similar to Jesstzn- nothing I'm willing to (risk marring ) to try it out on. I'm already wondering how it'd work through the shower-foam gun :D

Well, you wouldn't do any more marring than a normal wash anyway. Is what I'm confused over.

It's not like you spray this on and then wipe it off with a mitt (like a qd or qew)

You spray it on, let it soak in. Hose it off and then wash your car as normal.

I used it today, for the first time and I'll be posting a review when I've got some time.
