SSR2 taking 3 passes to take out swirls....

I am guessing i need to move up the ladder to ssr2.5...... Should i move up or just go over every inch of the car again 2-3 mor3 times with ssr2???? :( Should i use a cutting pad with the 2.5 or just use another white LC pad?

if you have to "up" the aggressive factor, use a cutting pad as I've found LC polishing with SSR is quite tame for medium/severe paint defects

So would i use 2.5 with an orange or switch to an orange and continue to use my ssr2? My swirls are quite bad in some spots and the car has never been polished and it is 13 years old.....

One more thing, if i were to use an orange pad with ssr2.5, is ssr1 on a white pad strong enough to remove the haze? or would i use ssr2 on a white pad to do this?

I am having trouble trying to figure out what i need to do.... what pad to use 2.5 on, white or orange... what pad to use ssr2 on.... I know i need to use more pressure though, i just want something more agressive so it will take the swirls out faster then ssr2 which takes forever, and still leaves some behind.

I heard ssr2.5 is mild on a white pad, how much haze with that leave behind and what product to use to remove it? Since ssr1 has no cut it seems like ssr2.5 then ssr2 then ssr1. I know ssr1 has to be done with a white pad but ssr2 and 2.5 is what gets me.

Give it a test. Try the SSR1 w/ the white polishing pad on a 1' x 1' area, and if it doesnt do the job, use the SSR2.5 on the area. From experience, I would think SSR1 WOULD clear up the whole hazing issue.

You want to use the least aggressive pad first. Try out some SSR2.5 on the white polishing pad, if your still experiencing swirling bump it up to the orange cutting pad.

SSR1 wouldn't stand a chance against these swirls....

Funny thing is every webiste i seem to check says ssr2.5 can go right to lsp but with ssr2 you need to use ssr1 to remove haze. I think ssr2.5 would work well with the white pad on the car, just need another white pad and to order 2.5 :chuckle:

SSR3 is not needed for the car for sure, it's down to 2.5 and 2....

From autogeek

"If using a variable speed polisher, use either a white polishing pad or an orange light cutting pad for a little extra cleaning power. After using SSR2, refine the finish with SSR1. It will smooth out any slight haze produced by SSR2 so your final coat of wax is absolutely flawless.

"

ssr2.5

"Use an orange light cutting pad with your variable speed polisher for the most effective swirl removal.

Just a side note: SSR2.5 smells like bubblegum. That should make your detailing experience a little more fun!

Don’t shy away from swirl removers. Poorboy’s SSR2.5 is easy to use and delivers amazing results on all kinds of finishes."

The orange seems good for extra bite but the polishing pads by most seem to be most common for ssr 2.5 and 2

2.5/orange pad takes care of almost anything, I use it as a starting poin on bad paint.

2.5/white, if that doesn't work, 2.5/orange, 2.5/white, 1/white, 1/black. The 1/black combo on speed 6 works really well for me on darker colors. Not always necessary on lighter colors.

Then go to your glaze/lsp.

I've never had 2.5/white pad finish down well enough for me to straight to a glaze/lsp. I always follow with 1/white,black. This is working on bright red, dark metallic red, and dark blues. White and silver and don't use the 1/black.

Hope that helps.

As a reference, here is what 2.5/white, 1/white, black followed with RMG/EXP can do:

2.5/white, check results, if ok, follow with 1/white, then go to glaze/lsp.

I have a white GMC truck (01), doing that followed with Clearkote RMG and PB EXP looks great. After cure time, I follow with Meg's #26 for a bit of wetness. Can substitute 26 for NXT if very wet look is desired.
