SSR2.5 vs. IP - The Showdown (w/pix!)

** Let us not start going down a personal route. Discuss products, not people. Thank you

It is fairly straight forward to determine if a product has fillers: apply IPA, let it dwell a bit, wipe off, apply some to you fingers and dry them, push your fingers against the finish If it squeaks, you know you're viewing the pure, "naked" paint. You can evaluate from there.

No mission here. I'm just going by what I and others have seen. If something has the ABILITY to hide then it has fillers. Right or wrong?

I guess my belief is that the ability to hide can include just regular polishing. Based on VWs pics that seems to be the case here. The swirls are being removed. If there were fillers then some swirls would be covered up temporarily and re-appear later. In my experience the SSR line permanently removes swirls.

I also saw a post once on Detail City where Steve said his products have no fillers.

Billy have you ever used Powergloss or IP in the Menzerna line but if you stop polishing before the defects are removed and wipe away the polish you will still see the defect. On the flip side, if you polish until the defect is removed and wipe away the polish, what you see is what you get. I have found this to be true with Optimums polishes also.

If the polish hides any defects in the polishing process then it has fillers(hides defects). Does that mean that the polish isn't abrasive? No it doesn't. It does mean that you can be tricked into thinking that you no longer need to polish the surface any longer.

Im not defending or bashing any product line here. Im just stating what I and others have experienced and seen. If you haven't seen it then that's YOUR experience. It's MY choice to not use a polish that requires me to do a wipe down to know for sure if I have removed a defect. Im done with this and wont respond any further.

Happy polishing and PM me if you'd like to purchase a rather large quantity of SSR 2 or 2.5.

I guess I'm confused by your logic...if you polish swirls and they disappear then after one stops the PC then all is well. If you have good technique then I don't think you would stop until the swirls are gone. I would agree that if you stop halfway then swirls may remain but who stops halfway, especially on this board?

If you finish the job and the swirls are gone, then how can there be fillers if the swirls remain gone after an isopropoyl alcohol wipedown?

It's not just my experience...I have three close friends who are experienced in detailing that use SSR2.5 and never have any problems. They think this filler talk is interesting in fact since they have not seen any evidence of it.

Hmmm... Not to add fuel to the fire.

I think this is what the man says.

If the polish has filler, you may do the polishing very quickly (morons like me) and think

you have cleared out all the swirls. But the filler is hiding the swirls.

However, if you are good at this (like most of you guys), you will polish enough

to get rid of the swirls. Therefore, it is inmaterial whether there is filler or not since the filler

cannot cover up non-existing swirls.

You're right Super - When the forums gets boring, there's nothing like digging up old threads and resurfacing them. The thing I find most interesting is the amount of people that have been banned from this forum(especially this BillyBarou guy)? Anyone ever wonder why?

Yup, I pulled up his profile just to see if I could find a ban worthy post.

Check again - his content is straight out of an AutoGeek infomercial. Maybe the Mods didn't take kindly prior to them coming aboard?
