Hi guys! Im still very new to detailing I've done 3 cars so far.

2 of which were about 10 years old and badily swirled, I've read this forum at length and im using the right amount of product (not too much as everyone has said a little goes a long way) then working the product in till its totally broken down.

I've found that the #80 is more aggressive than the SSR 2.5 (if that’s not the case please let me know! :bigups ) But to get rid of all the swirls on heavily swirled cars its taking 5 applications and passes per panel which is taking me ages to do a whole car!!!

Are there any other more aggressive products on the market that will do an initial deep cut on badily swirled cars, or Im i doing something wrong? (Im using both products with a lake county 6 1/2" yellow cutting pads)

i thought #80 was kind of comparable to SSR2

while #83 is abit more aggresive than SSR2.5..

anyone care to shed some light?

just to give a bit more info :

I work the product in @ speed 3/4 then work it up to 6, Im applying enough pressure so that the orbital motion of the PC doesn't stop (I found when i first used the PC I was pressing too hard)

Im moving the PC @ about 1" per second or slower, Im using about 1 ring of product around the pad per 2sq ft of pannel.

I work each application of the product for about 10-15 minutes, until the product is pretty much totally broken down.

Does that sound about right?

15 mins is wayyyyy to long, a 2 foot section is taking me someting like 1-2minutes to break down #80, if its taking 5 passes then step up to #83,then #80

you do need to apply some pressure..so that you hear the motor change when you push on it

thanks for the info steveo3002 - gonna give those megs forums a look

Think I must be about right with the pressure as there's a distinct change in sound comming from the PC as soon as I apply.

Posted on a UK forum too and was told 15 mins is too long so im gonna try a more agressive product and a lot less time breaking the product down!

No wonder it was taking me ages to do a car!
