Spray & Wipe as a presoak?

The Rainmaker
Since winter weather will be arriving in Iowa most anytime now, I have been trying to work on a few things so I am prepared.
1. We have a touchless wash in our area that uses all fresh water. No recycled water whatsoever. The wash is about two years old and the equipment room is spotless. (Had a tour)
2. This would take the heavy crap off and do an underbody wash during th bad weather.
3. From there, I can finish things off in the garage with my S&W.
4. My latest idea: Since my van is a shorty, the touchless wash is quite a distance from the rear of it and doesn't do a very good job of removing the road film. I have been presoaking the rear lift gate with S&W just prior to entering the touchless wash. It seems to have helped a great deal with the removal of the road film. Right now, I am using the S&W full strength, but I am going to try it mixed 80:20 and 70:30 and see what kind of results that mixture will give me.
Comments?

Charles, how about mixing some S & W with some of your normal car wash and spraying it on as your pre-soak...the S & W will start lifting the dirt and the wash will add more soap directly to dirty surface, so when the high pressure water hits the surface there will be more cleansing action:dunno

Charles,

The S&W presoak is very common.
Thanks. Never read anything about anyone using it. :)

Sounds good to me. I was sticking to mixing the S&W with water simply because I'm no chemist and wasn't too sure how mixing another product with the S&W would work. I happen to use Meg's Gold Class and will try that with the S&W as a presoak. Any suggestions on ratio? Maybe 80% S&W:20% car wash.

I think the mixture will have to depend on how good the sprayer is that you are using...I just got sample of some foaming sprayers and will do some testing;)

After a little thought, that seems like it would be waaaay too much shampoo.
I uase a 32 oz. Zep spray bottle and I think an ounce or two of shampoo and the rest S&W would probably be closer to the correct amount.
Maybe even some water mixed in there.
See, now I'm trying to be a chemist. I think I'll just go back to using it like it comes.
You guys keep trying to make me think and that makes my head hurt.:D
