I've got some what i BELIEVE to be aluminum rims (im really not sure thou, i just know they arnt chrome) on a friend of mine's GMC Safari Van. A friend of his 'helped' him out and washed it for him, and used TIRE cleaner on the rims...and it seems as if on top of that, i was allowed to set and never rinsed properly (till we got home and found out what happened). I went out and cleaned them back as best as i could and some spots came out, MOST of them just dimmed thou, and stayed. Whenever i wipe the rim with a damn MF cloth the rim looks perfect, but as soon as the moisture on the rim evaporates the spots reappear. I've tried wiping with a damp cloth and buffing clean with a dry one, same thing. I tried some Blue Magic metal polish on it a while back and that didnt do too much either.
So basically im not sure if its JUST hard water spots on the rims or if its that and spots from the tire cleaner being left on them and not washed off fast enough (i live in arizona so, yeah it gets hot FAST) or what, all i know is there are spots that LOOK like water spots...but may be more complex. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help me out? Maybe a different type of polish, would a polishing ball for my drill used with a polish help?
