Spilled Rain-X onto leather....

Hello,

Left a bottle of Rain-X on my seats, didn't know it was leaking till it's too late..now it's left a white/milky plastic film on my seat and so far I haven't been able to scrub it out with water and a rag.

Any ideas what can be done about it?

Thanks :rockon

I would be careful about applying anymore cleaner on this, since Rain-X is denatured alcohol already.

Best you can do is help it dry.. Its alcohol based so it should dry quickly and hopefully not do any damage to the foam underneath the leather if it soaked through.

Stay off of that seat as much as possible for now until its all dried out..

What leather conditioning products do you have on hand now ?

Have you tried anything else on it besides water and a rag?

Does it feel sticky or very soft when you touch it ??

Sorry this had to happen to you..

I don't have any conditioning products near me at the moment and it appears to be completely dried now. You're right, the leather appears to be quite dried (there's a distinct color difference between the affected area and unaffected) and is lighter in color/milky film on top. I'll leave it as it is and find some oil based product hopefully that will replenish the oil a little.

EDIT: it feels slightly sticky on the affected area as well though it was worse initially.

Tell us what kind of vehicle, make, model, year, and we can get better at helping, ok ?
Thanks !
