Souveran over Zaino? Is it possible?

Well tonight I had an idea of applying Souveran over Zaino. Should I? Has anyone else tried this combo? I want to wait and see how my Z5 Pro adn Z2 Pro Combo comes out, but I was worried if I put souveran over the top if it would make it cloudy or diminish the finish in any way. I want to though because just not out of curiousity but I don't want to let my $70 tub of wax just sit there. :(

It is possible to do so.

I've topped Zaino with several carnaubas, but I've never noticed a significant difference.

I put Natty's Blue over Z5pro on my dad's black C6 vette, made a world of difference for depth and clarity. Many say topping Zaino has no effect on the look, but try it and see how you like it. Experimenting is a great way to learn what works for you.

Z5 isn't advertised as being that deep to begin with correct? It is Z2 that is supposed to have the depth and clarity. So maybe that is why they don't see that much of a difference?

I have topped Z with souveran plenty of times. I usually wait a at least a few weeks after the Z application just to enjoy the Zaino, then top it when I want a little more depth and wetness!

I've done it on my Lexus SC430. Does add to a deeper and wetter finish.

Do a test on one panel and view it in the sun before and after to see if it's worth it and you like the look.

One thing, it adds a sacrificial layer to Zaino you could say.

It's great right before storing a car for winter and covering it. It's what I'll do to the Porsche before covering it with the interior cover provided by Porsche.

Now go and test one panel and let yourself judge.

When i used Zaino,i would top it with collinite#915 or #476 because i liked the 'warmer' look that these two gave over the top.

I'm not sure much if anything is to be gained by doing that now that Z8 is available. But it is fun to experiment :grinno:

I did actualy use Z8 over Z2 pro,but was a little dissapointed so i used the collinite to see what effect it would have. The result was pleasing, much warmer with more depth.Zaino is a great product, but i do prefer the 'look' of carnauba waxes.

As others have said, give it a try and see if it meets your appearance desires.

True "depth" of finish is achieved via polishing one's paint. After polishing if "depth" is not present a little can be imitated by using a wax or glaze. If after polishing your paint appears wet and deep, a long lasting sealant will augment a little depth but also enhance the gloss more so than a wax.

I like both depth/wetness and extreme gloss with durable protection. :D

Ah yes.........to top the "Z" or not top the "Z"?????????? Zaino purists top Z5 Pro / Z2 Pro with Z8 only. IMO, there's really no need to go outside the "Z" system when using it. It all comes down to personal preference, I guess. For instance, I've got the Z2 Pro/Z5 Pro/Z8 combo on my black "C" at the moment. As it stands, my car's finish is good to go through the ultra mild Texas winter. Weekly Z7 washes followed by Z6 or Z8 will keep my car looking terrific & quite protected for months to come. But here's where I share your dilema, Chili.............I'm a carnauba junkie!! I just love the depth & wetness that a quality nuba produces. Let's face it.......There's plenty of quality sealants out there. And the Zaino system tops most peoples lists. But to my eye, there just isn't a quality sealant on the market ( and there shouldn't be, when yout think about it. Sealants & carnauba waxes are apples & oranges. ) that exactly duplicates the looks of say CG 50/50, Souveran, Natty's Blue, Trade Secret, P21S, Meg's #16/26, FK Pink Wax, DP Max Wax, CMW......etc. Sealants may come close, and Zaino looks tremendous on my black car, but I too am looking for that rich-dripping wet depth & wetness that only a quality carnauba provides me. ( to my eye, atleast...... ) I use sealants for their superior protection. I use nuba's to achieve the looks I desire. At this very moment, I've got all I can do to keep myself from running outside on this beautiful 75 degree West Texas day & massaging a layer of Souveran or Natty's Blue over the 3 week old Zaino system that took me 2 days to do. That being said..........DO IT!!!! ENJOY IT!! Others may disagree.......but there really is a difference ( on dark colored paint ) when the "Z" is topped with a beauty wax such as Souveran. I did it last year with mouth watering results. Souveran won't strip the "Z". You've got nothing to lose. ALL HAIL THE NUBA!!!
