souveran or Z2Pro

Intercooled

I'm in the process of totallt redoing my Paint detailing. I was planing on trying out my new jar of soveran that I havn't tried yet or going with Z2 pro that everyone is ranting about. The car is black clear coat. Garage queen. Looking for a deep wet, warm look.

Hey there!

I people who could answer your question would be BlkZ28Conv or Scottwax. They'll break it down for ya better than Simon from American Idol. (lol) IMO, being that your car is a "garage queen" you can't go wrong with either one. ( with a good prepping ofcourse.) I know the Souveran will give you a wet, warm glow. As for the Z2 Pro.............I'll be puting on the "Z" next week on my Black truck.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to ya!!

My quess is the Souveran would mute the clarity/optics of the Z2 Pro. In other words......it would soften the "Bling" of the Zaino.

how about z2pro + souveran? best of both worlds.

This is the combo I use on my black car. As mentioned above, it does soften the "bling" of Zaino alone, but IMO that's a good thing on a black car, especially when adding the glow of Souveran. :xyxthumbs

I don't like the Zaino on my GN. I'll be trying the AIO,SG,Pinnacle combo. To me the Zaino did not have enough depth.

For an optically perfect crystalline shine use both ZPRO2â„¢ and Souveren

That's the first time I've heard that Souveren would 'mute' another products optics. Is this something youâ€â„¢ve experienced before, with what product?

Jon,

From my personal experiences on black, silver, red and white vehicles that there is a distinct difference in appearance when a carnuaba is layered over Klasse SG, Zaino, ShoKar and 1Z Glanz. There is no difference with products like UPP, BFII, WG and NXT.

The carnuabas I have tried included Meg16, #26, P21S, Souveran and Natty's to name a few.

Not a "bad" difference but one that does not meet "my" appearance desires (fresh out of the paint booth clarity, richness of color hue, depth and sharpness of reflections). :wavey

It's important to remember that we all have different likes & dislikes when it come to the appearance of our vehicles. The coolest thing about being a "detailing freak" is the experimentation process! IMO ,one can't go wrong using many of the "boutique type" products out there. I love the look of the Klasse Twins topped with P21S. To start with, I was using the Klasse Twins alone and then the enthusiast in me said...." what if I put the P21S over the AIO/SG." Tah-Dah!! Then one day I tried the Trade Secret over the Klasse Twins. After staring at my car for about an hour (back then it was a 2000 Honda Accord EX V-6/Dark Emerald Pearl) I noticed a slightly different look than the P21S gives. At first I thought I was nuts, but there really is a difference! Both combo's look great, but I could tell the difference. High end waxes are like beautiful women! They're all beautiful.....They just look beautiful in different ways!

So, you're saying you see no difference when you top SG with BF II or UPP?

Also, how would you describe the look of a carnauba over Zaino? Just curious.

Souveran for my money - no question. You want depth, you need a wax - not a synthetic. Durability isnt an issue so from where I sit, its a no brainer, especially on black........

Best correlation I have read yet.:xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

Sorry, to confuse. I was trying to say that when I top UPP, WG, etc with a carnuaba I did not detect a visual difference. This is because these type of sealants product a more carnuaba-like end-point than sealants like Zaino, SG, etc. when applied to a meticulously prepped surface.

Carnuaba over Zaino appearance: Looks like Carnuaba. The changes the carnuaba and its accompanying oils over-whelm the clarity of the Zaino finish alone. But isn't this the reason why people top sealants? Carnuaba appearance with sealant protection as back-up. :nixweiss

Hey Term!

I see you're a "BoSox fan". I was born in Beantown & moved here to West texas about 2 1/2 years ago. I love the Red Sox!! One of the only things I enjoy more than detailing my vehicles is sitting in Fenway Park watch'n the Sox!!

How about polishing the finish and developing "true" depth, along with other features of the finish, that doesn't wash or evaporate away after a few weeks or months? :nixweiss

For someone with almost 400 posts asking the question, I figure prep is a given. If not then thats a whole lot of questions without the answers or basic information penetrating the brain.......

First let us agree that a paint finishes appearance is very subjective, to say the least.

IMO Zanio Z2PROâ„¢ is the most optically clear polymer Iâ€â„¢ve used to-date. Souveren is the clearest (a wax doesnâ€â„¢t have optical clarity like a polymer due to differences in there origin) my â€Ëœsubjectiveâ€â„¢ eye doesnâ€â„¢t see any depth or wetness in a polymer sealant. Colour (of paint) and sharp reflectivity comes through because of (some) polymers clarity.

While Iâ€â„¢m mostly in agreement with the products you mentioned when used as a LST over Zanio, for me Zanio Z2PROâ„¢ and Souveran give my eye Colour, Depth and Clarity and the so called â€Ëœwet-lookâ€â„¢, which comes from the way wax distorts light reflection

And absolutely No argument the perfect finish comes down to; 82% preparation (without which the best products in the world can only show whatâ€â„¢s underneath them) 5% product, 7% application method and the balance is in the â€Ëœguyâ€â„¢ of the beholder. (And X% because nothing is really perfectâ€Â¦)

Your statement states otherwise:

... You want depth, you need a wax - not a synthetic. its a no brainer, especially on black........

I pointed out that "depth" can be achieved via finish prep also verses artificial means (oils, waxes, etc).

Your statement implies that a sealant protected vehicle can not have depth. Totally untrue and quite misleading if the surface is prepared to enhance this features. Obviously, requiring a little more effort than rubbing on some Souveran, but for me a lot more pleasing and the longevity of the appearance even when the protectant has lefted stage right and proper technique was used to clean the finish prior to the next application of protectant.

I do use carnuabas for friends that need a spruce-up but don't have the time for a full polish and will still use a T-shirt for their next wash. AIO + P21S / Souveran / NXT = :xyxthumbs for this type of car guy.

Touche' Jon, :xyxthumbs

Individualization of what constitute a vehicle appearance features, depth especially, is quite difficult to standardize.
