I think scottwax had something to do with it.

I knew which car you were talking about when I read the first few lines of the thread and unfortunately, I had nothing do to with that car.

Deckard has an incredible paint job to slather Souveran over! :bow

Is Carnauba on it's last leg???

I haven't heard anyone thus far saying that a polymer would look good/improve this paint 'look'?

Not to take anything away from that detail, but alot of it is having a *perfect* setting. I've seen other pictures of that BMW and if I didn't see that picture I'd say the paint looked like what you normally see here from similar quality paint jobs. Did I make any sense?

perfect setting,,, this one is out in the sun, beside a building??

i'm with ya to some extent...that photo is perfectly exposed...it may have been a 35mm film camera (scanned) or a high quality digital with its 'white balance' spot on!!

There is something special about well-prepped BMW paint and Souveran. Dark colors look awesome but so does silver I have found.

Hello everyone,

First of all, thanks for the kind words.

I'd like to give some information about the car, the paint and the application :

The car is a 2004 Alpina B3S Coupe, based on the 3 Series Coupe. Alpina is a registered car manufacturer in Buchloe, southern Germany. As mentioned above, it's the engine where they excel at. The whole BMW factory options can be ordered from BMW as well as custom Alpina leather interior and trim.

The paint is called Mora Red metallic, it's available through BMW's Individual program, where the M cars are also being produced. The interesting thing about the individual colors is that they have flip flop properties, i.e the color looks different depending on the light.

Individual paint costs around $2000 if you are ordering from the US. Although custom paint is not being offered in the US bound BMWs officially, one needs to find a dealer who is willing to go through all the hassle to have it approved in the ordering system. It's possible and it's been done many times.

I did no paint prep on the car before applying the wax, just washed it and applied the wax. The car is a garage queen, it's being driven only in dry weather. It's spending the winter in a garage. So, the paint was already in a mint condition.

As for the camera, it's a stone age, Casio QV2900UX, 2.1 MP digital camera, which I bought 2 years ago. Nothing fancy, far from being a good camera. Before taking the photos, I've used a white paper to adjust the white balance, that's it. I didn't post-process the photos, they are straight from the memory card and just been resized. I can't imagine taking the photos with a decent DSLR.

I put 2 more coats at the weekend, I am still amazed at the results. The whole car is looking like a candy apple.

The application is the easiest. It's like putting butter on a slice of bread.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Souveran to those who are looking for a wet, deep and rich shine.

Cheers and Happy Detailing.
