Sorry pictures with trees don't impress me.

Here is another thing to chew on, photoshop.

It can be used to make a car look way better than it does in real life, easily. Or it can be used less extremely, in a good way.

I use photoshop on many of the photos I post. I only do this in an effort to correct the shortcomings of the camera, and make the image as acurate a representation as possible.

Again, just saying again that there is even more that can happen after camera tricks to enhance an image. However I must say this is the most mature forum I have ever had the pleasure of viewing .:bow :xyxthumbs

PHOTOSHOP!!! :shocked

This thread started innocently enough and now these devious tactics have surfaced and opened up a whole new can of worms. First the steroids scandal in baseball and now this. Forget the trees now I'm not impressed with any pictures.:p

Well photoshoped images never look correct to me. I'm better off shooting in the correct lighting where I can capture the true color of the car.

What are you talking about? "Owned"? That pic looks nothing like the color of my car. I don't need pics in the sun to prove anything to people. I know what my car looks like in all lighting and that's all that matters. I guess you'll just have to take my word for it. If someones word is worth anything these days

BTW: I work with photoshop all the time and know what can be done and if you change the subject too much it doesn't look natural in it's setting. The pic I posted of my car being orange looks better to me.

Am I missing something here? What's the point of posting any pictures bragging about products and your paint if you're using photoshop anyways to spruce it up. Where's the intergrity? I'm starting to lose my faith in humanity.

I would imagine that the percentage of people that would actually do that on here would be very small and very insignificant.

Who did that? kiwi133 did that just to Tom's car just to show it can be done, not to fool anyone.

I think most of us use Photoshop to make the picture look nicer... to make up for our photography skills. For example, I use Auto Levels and Auto Contrast to make mine more presentable. Improving pictures with Photoshop is no different than adjusting your settings on a camera, IMO.

Removing swirls with photoshop, etc... then I can see a problem.

I've been using the image optimizer from www.xat.com and all I do is resize and compress. My camera has a pretty good light meter, so I can almost always get the lighting right as the picture is taken.

If the goal is to make the picture you see on you computer as accurate a reproduction of what you see in reality, there is nothing wrong with photoshop. Color modification and other things are done with film photography as well.

Any images taken with any digital camera that are not RAW imager data files, have been tweeked and modified in the cameras own "photoshop" to best represent the subject.

Newer cameras are begining to have post photo editing tools built into the camera.

Like BW said.

and I wasn't trying to "own" anybody.

Mantic6t9, it is your photo, I can remove it if you don't want it up.

I've got a 35mm SLR so other than playing around with apeture and shutter speed, I can't really do anything. Besides, those two functions mostly affect the depth of field.

I've tried messing around the the color levels on my image optimizer but they always make the pictures look worse.

scottwax-beauiftul work.

I noticed some of you block out license numbers from your pics -why? I don't get it. When they drive down the street millions see it anyway.

I have no problem with pictures of reflections but I do appreciate same lighting (as much as possible) in before and after shots though when someone is trying to demonstrate how a product looks or works.

The thing that I don't like is when someone is trying to push or sell a product and shows a dirty car in the worst lighting conditions as a before and the after is a totally different light and angle and says how far superior their product is.

I totally agree, Photoshop does exactly what my camera and RAW software can do.

I'm not a professional photographer so my exposure or white balance are sometimes off (ok, they're off all the time :D, but I'm getting better).

Here is an example of what I mean

This is a picture with the correct exposure (just resized):

1.jpg

Here is one a little under exposed:

2.jpg

Here is that same picture with a +0.3 exposure increase done with software (same thing I can do with the camera before the picture):

Like I said before, I think everyone gets entirely too worked up about this. This happens every couple of months, the identical thread.

Joe, I block out the plates because most customers request I do if I am going to post their vehicle on the internet. A picture of the vehicle makes it easier to memorize the license plate for those with bad intentions than just seeing it pass you on the street.
