DETAILED TODAY?
Sonus Der Wunder Microfiber Drying Towel, Pkg/2

put these in use today. have to admit. i found no fault in them. 2 to a pack. it did take 2 to dry off the xterra, but the second one had plenty drying life left. no lint. left a nice dry finish.

now....wonder how long they will work like this? want to clue me in on proper care please.

do you wash them after every use?

is MF cleaner only better for them?

is regular detergent ok? it states its ok on the bag. med heat dry.

would like them to last at $27 for the pair.

I got mine about 6 years ago and still have a set left after all these years, I always use a good MF soap to clean them and air dry them.

Powdered soap is not recommended nor is liquid that has fabric softener or fragrance. I use Charlie's Soap for microfibers then throw them in the dryer. Since yours were quite expensive, in my book anyway, I'd cough up for some microfiber specific cleaner. I always preferred MF cleaner but with shipping it's a bit expensive for an old retired fart and Charlie's Soap can be had locally by the gallon. It works very well by the way.

Assuming the car was perfectly clean and no dirt was picked up on the towels I would guess they could be used another time or two. Dirt? Wash them! For what it's worth....no matter how well I wash the car the drying towel(s) always pick up crap from somewhere so I wash them. You might be a better car washer than I am.

When you use Waffle Weave Microfiber Towels to dry the car you are sucking up all of the water (and thus minerals in the water) into the towel. Also if your soap has some polymers/gloss enhancers/wax you are likely getting some of that residue in the towel as well. After a couple uses this mineral "coating" will start to negatively effect the towels ability to absorb water...

I keep two towels on hand (ironically I used the Der Wunder's this week as well, but usually Guzzlers). When they are no longer performing at peak performance I will wash them. Because the second towel is used last (and thus gets less contamination) it needs to be washed less frequently (whether you do this or just wash it is up to you).

As far as washing... If you are going to use regular soap then I would recommend something with no softener and no scent (both of which are additives that can coat the microfiber). Also pour a little distilled vinager into the rinse water. However, I personally use BLACKFIRE's microfiber cleaner. There have been countless threads on how effective it is and it keeps the microfiber softer then anything I have previously used.

I experienced this once after using DDJ Time to Dry Detailer. It attributed it to the detailer. I ended up soaking the towel in APC to restore it.
