Sonax Full Effect Question

For those of you that use it, about how long do you leave it on the wheel before you start to agitate or power wash the wheel?

Thinking of trying it for my BMW 328 xi rims.

The ONLY thing product is truly effective for me - after about 2 weeks without a wash - is Meg's Wheel Brightener. And I mean the ONLY thing. I've tried Eagle One A2Z (which I normally love), P21s (wasn't impressed at all - and I went through an entire bottle in only about 3 washes), Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner (better than P21s, just didn't have the power I needed) - nothing came close to the results I get from Meg's WB.

I just hate using it every time I have to wash the wheels...I don't know, maybe the warnings and what not are blown out of proportion if it's diluted & used properly.

Yes, yes, yes I know I can get different pads but they were just put on (by the BMW dealership when the was certified prior to sale) and I'm going to let them run their course until I need new ones.

D, don't belittle the health hazards associated with Meguiar's Wheel Brightener and similar products. It's real and probably not the best thing for one to be handling on a weekly basis. You simply can't make those concerns go away by "hoping for the best", etc. Dilution does NOT reduce the hazard.

Are you cleaning your wheels weekly? We've owned nearly every European car available for sale in the USA and have never had a problem with the brake dust when wheels were cleaned weekly. Never.

Sonax will be no better than the products you mention in terms of cleaning strength.

ardex is supposed to have some good wheel cleaners, haven't tried the 3d yellow degreaser yet but understand its suppose to be pretty good. wolf's deironizer decon gel (was called something with buster in the name) is also report to quite good. i have a audi and use the ag custom/acid free stuff diluted 1:1 but wash my wheels weekly. short of new pads the answer is probably to clean them weekly.

After cleaning with Megs WB, try sealing the wheels with something like zaino AIO. Have had some great luck using that and it seems to make the wheels clean up much easier (these are on wheels that have only had Sonax FE used on it.)

BMW brake pads are that bad - the brake dust is aweful. I have found that on my car I do need to use WB frequently for the front wheels. I have wheel wax that I am using and it helps as well as Armor All Wheel Protectant. I might put some FK1000P on the wheels to see if that helps. I am thinking that a product like Iron-X might be the solution. I can get my rear wheels perfectly clean with optimum power clean diluted 4:1.

WB is nasty stuff which is why I try to avoid it - I am getting to the stage where I almost don't care anymore about the front wheels - perhaps I should get the inside of the rims refinished in black.

I always have had great luck with P21s gel. You spray it on and let it sit for a good 20 min or longer. Once you get the wheels cleaned put on a good coat of wax then you will be able to clean your wheels with just soap and water

take the wheels off

use sonax or wheel brightener

rewash and dry/wipe with IPA

opticoat wheels

wash regularly with soap and water from here on out

I opticoated my moms 335 and she never has a problem cleaning the wheel inners

That's most likely the way I'll go....
