Some zaino question

I am new to zaino, and I hope that you guys can help me on the following questions:

1. My black car already have about 10 coats of Z2/Z5 on it, but it wasn't went thru a proper surface prep before the first session. And no although the car looks nice, but closer look will reveal some scratches all over the body (micro to light scratches). Should I do a proper polishing to remove it or keeps on putting more layers of Z5 to cover them up? I have Meguire ScratchX, is it suitable to used on a zainoed car?

2. Besides using Z6, what other QD is compatible with Zaino, is there any differece if I zaino without Z6?

Thanks for any comment.

Some Zaino answers :)

1. My feeling is if 10 coats of Z isn't filling scratches, another 10 or so won't either. Scratches should be removed properly. Try the Scratch X on a few of the more noticeable ones and judge results. The Scratch X will remove the Zaino but that's OK. Polishing the entire car may be needed but start small and work from there just to make sure that takes care of the problem.

2. Z6 is the best QD for Zaino as it adds slickness and clarity to existing Zaino coats where other QD's cannot. You can use another brand but you won't get the same benefits. Since some QD's have carnauba, some have more silicone than others, and some have whoknowswhat, I think you are safe in sticking with Z6 as long as you are a Z2/5 user.

To receive the best appearance from Zaino, like all products, Prep is the most important step. This means eliminating all repairable surface marring and enhancing the paint's gloss and depth. Zaino alone will not do this and lacks the ability to cover-up a poorly prepped finish. With a good prep 3-5 coats of Z2/5 will give you the end-point and any coats there after will just be to rejuveniate and replace the worn outer coat. A good regimen is Z5 after a couple of washes to fill in the surface marring created in the Z coats by washing and following up with 1 -2 coats of Z2. Forget about counting coats. Irrevelant data.

I believe Z1 is needed even when using ZFX. Z1 will clean / remove the worn outer coat(s) coats of Z2/5 when the Z appears to be marred from daily use and frequent washings.

An alternative to Z6 that may be available locally (Malaysia)

to you is Meguiar's Final Inspection ( paint shop safe - non-silicones,oils, and waxes). FI has the same gloss producing qualities as Z6 but not the re-enforcing polymers that Z6 has.
