Some Volvo Details...

These are all some details from a few months ago and I thought they were worth posting. Same basic process was followed for them all:



-Thorough wash

-Dry with Pakshak WW

-1Z Paint Polish with PC

-1Z Metallic Polish with PC

-Collinite #845 wax

-Stoner tire shine



Interior

-Blow out all crevices with high pressure air

-Vacuum

-Spot treat carpets and scrub floor mats with 303 Carpet Cleaner

-303 on dash

-Magic Eraser/Vinylex on plastics/door panels

-Scrub leather with Zaino Z9

-Dress leather with Zaino Z10

-1Z glass cleaner



First up, a 1998 S70 with close to 200k miles if I remember correctly. The paint was pretty much hammered with heavy marring, but I thought it turned out OK considering how bad it was.

Next up, a 1994 940 with low miles. The car had pretty decent swirling but the interior was nearly mint for the cars age.

Good work. To remove all those swirls on the first couple of cars you will need more than 1Z paint polish. If you have the 1Z paint cleaner that would work much better. Medium to heavy swirling needs a compound.
 
I just purchased a new volvo and its also like this



its suppose to be blue (on record) but looks to me green so i dont know the old guy that bought it (original owner) was 80 something so maybe he didnt have good eyesight or something lol... i dont know, regardless... its like this as well:

What would you guys recommend to get rid of the swirls?



Wash car well then dry?

Clay the car next?

Then what sort of polishing whatever should i use before waxing?



The car I got is a 1994 volvo 850... so... i dunno about oxidization or whatever if it occurs maybe that changed the color i dont know what sort of paint it originally is suppose to be... so give me some ideas :)
 
connorb850- Wow, that's impressive correction for just 1Z PP. Tlad the 1Z/Collinite combo worked out for you.



To do much more aggressive work you'd have to step up to their 1Z Pasta Intensiv for the first passes.



That's a cool green wagon too, I like that!



a_ahmed- You might try doing exactly what connorb850 did, namely use 1Z brand polishes. They're *very* user-friendly.
 
Its funny to see this old thread pop up. Over a year later I'm still using 1Z quite a bit, but have also moved to Menzerna and building skills with a rotary. I cringe to see the dirty rear door jambs on the burgandy sedan, that car would never have left me like that today!



Accumulator - That WAS a very nice wagon and one of my favorite Volvo colors. Actually I saw it the other day and it's completely trashed now, as the owner gave it to his daughter.



a_ahmed - I would take Accumulator's advice and try out the 1Z polish line, especially if you are a beginner.
 
AWESOME work! Man, I really want to get my hands on a beat up Volvo and detail them like you do! Gorgeous work, love your details...
