Some Of The Things That I Read

Just One More Coat
Oh other car forums is unbelievable at times

Today I was reading on a BMW forum about quick detail sprays...the person that started to thread wanted to know which ones are the best and when to use it...the usual answers popped up, Eagle One, Zaino, Mother yada yada yada....anywho some one posts that QD is nothing more than diluted car wash soap:eek: WHAT?

and that its best used between waxes and not washes..again:eek: WHAT?

I wrote back and explained in a nice way that you are full of horse do-do:D

I guess what I am getting at is, there are some real interesting beliefs in car care..reading some of the car forums that I frequent tell me that.

Some of the people on the detailing forums give some of the worst advise you'll ever get, along with some of the best. That's why, IMO you need to get a feel for who's who on the forum. Who are the pro's and who are the noob's who just heard about something but have never tried it. I've seen people advise wet sanding to a person who didn't even know how to apply wax! I've seen a person recommend spray painting your rims with the wheels still on the car! (turns out he didn't know how to take them off). Of course my car would never look as good as it does without everything I've learned here, and on other detailing forums.

I think that "join date" is a better indication of a persons experience then "number of posts" many times, unless it's the pro's that are doing the posting.

I agree, I have seen people post that it took them 8-10-12 hours to complete a detail and then put the bottle or jar of wax right on the hood :jawdrop:
I just don't understand how someone can invest that much time and then put a container on the paint W/O even a MF underneath. :hmmm:

Detailing sub-forums are full of bad advice most of the time unless they're sponsered by a car care retailer, like adams, autogeek, ect.

I actually frequent e90post.com which has "some" informed members, but also has some crazies. One detailer on their is constantly buying everything another detailer uses, and within a week will give it an official evaluation. How can you evaluate a product after 1-2 uses. Anyways, yeah, detailing sub-forums frustrate the hell out of me.

I picked up a great detail last weekend from a BMW forum...the guy drove 70 miles one way to let me work on his 08...335i...the only reason he did was because of the advice that I would give various poster...he said that he could tell that I knew what I was doing...good pat on the back IMO

I don't think QD has soap but I do believe the major ingredient is water.
A few ounces of chemicals and the rest water
It would be interesting to know just how much water is in it

Obviously a large percentage.
ONR recommends 1.5 oz. to a quart.
4 in 1 recommends 2 to 2.5 oz. per quart.
You do have to supply your own spray bottle. :)

But..... When you buy the QD, you don't have to mess around with all that messy measuring and mixing of chemicals and water. :D

I usually think twice when I read "trust me" in a post, as in "product X is the best you'll ever use, trust me.":lol2:
There's something not quite right about having to tell people to trust you.

Ouch! :surrender
Trust me, that's a phrase I have used on here more than once. :D

Doesn't Clearkote QuikShine come in powdered form in their gallon containers, with the instruction to add water?

No, it comes in a liquid, but it is concentrated. You get about 16 oz. of product in the gallon jug. You fill the rest with water.
