Some Fun With an '04 Taurus

I got my hands on this '04 Taurus with over 120K miles. It had never been clayed, but got waxed on occasion. It was a fun way to spend a Sunday morning. I hit the wheels with Griot's Garage wheel cleaner. The Megs clay bar didn't fare too well, as it left residue all over the car. I switched to the Griot's clay, and it did the trick. Topped it off with Megs Cleaner Wax, and she's good to go :xyxthumbs

There was a posting last week suggesting you should ALWAYS polish after clay. I disagree. These results show what can be done with only a wash, clay, and wax.



Obviously some cars need to be polished but many don't. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the compliments! I went with the Megs Cleaner Wax, as it claims to have polish in it (a simple 1 step). I've been using it for years on my own cars with great results. I didn't use my Griot's Fine Hand Polish and then Best of Show Wax or Sealant, since I don't have a P.C., rotary, etc... When I get one, I'd love to do a full blown detail on it.

No and no. There was a thread where the op was wondering if anyone would clay a car without polishing. He felt clay caused micro-maring that should be polished. He was suggesting you should ALWAYS polish after clay instead of going straight from clay to lsp. I'm saying that SOMETIMES it's okay to go straight from clay to lsp.
