Some customers just don't get it (pics).....

Don't get hung up on guys like this. The majority of the population won't understand or want your work. You're not catering to the majority of car owners. You're trying to sell to people that can see a difference, or can learn to see the difference.

Once people see and notice swirls, they can never go back. If they don't want to convert; don't worry about them as they're not your target market.

Well the work was incredible and you got paid for it. Thats the bottom line. The best part is you don't have to do it again if you don't want. I deal with this stuff all the time and I flat out tell them that maybe my services aren't for them. If you don't hold true to yourself you will only get bottom feeders looking for a discount.

I'll add that that appears to be a newer model Mercedes with the Ceramiclear paint which can be a royal PITA to improve. I wonder if your competition even knows what Ceramiclear paint is, let alone about the better polishes that can better correct it and I bet if you discuss it with the client, it would go right over his head. The client ought to be very satisifed with the result.

I make it a point to let customers know when they have the ceramiclear paint (show them the C in front of the paint code) and I think that helps them realize I do know what I am dealing with to correct their paint.

Spot on advice.

On that note, sometimes when someone gets a taste of the good life it's hard for them to go back to whoever else. Keep it in mind and don't burn a bridge.

About a month ago, i spent nearly 12 hours working on a guy's suburban. I saw him in the morning to sign my waiver, and only again in the evening to hand me a check. There was no praise, applaud, mulling over the restoration or anything. I can honeslty say that i was somewhat pissed that not one aspect of the job seemed to be appreciated. I don't know why but sometimes the work just feels empty and the payoff meaningless to me if there isn't that customer satisfaction at the end of a gig. I can't tell me how many smiles, hugs and tips have resulted from simple interior jobs or even my stage 1's. But really, what are you going to do? People have other stuff on there mind and to them a clean car is just a clean car.

VERY true. We all need to remember that our passion is not necessarily everyone else's passion as well.
