Ok.....I got my PC the other day and I also received my accessory kit from CMA. Now, which pad do I use for what???

I'm not using all of the stuff listed below at once, this is mainly for future reference.

Here's all my stuff:

3M PPCL

3M FII

3M SMR

3M IHG

E1 Scratch Remover

Klasse AIO

Klasse SG

Blitz

Ok, could any of you tell me which pad should be used for each of these applications? I know that from what I've read, I will probably apply the Klasse SG by hand, but what about the others? Should I apply any of the others by hand also?

Thanks for any help.

Dont have the PC yet Derrick but I think if you do a search on pads and you may find your answer if nobody types in.

Much depends Derrick on the condition of your finish. If you provide some details on paint condition it would be very helpful.

Congrats on your new PC.

TBone :)

They all can be used by hand, the polishes work best by machine.

Pinnacle PCL White or Grey pad.

3M's FI2 Yellow pad.

3M SMR Yellow or White pad.

3M's IHG Grey pad.

E1 SR Yellow or White pad.

KAIO White or Grey pad.

KSG Grey pad.

Blitz Hand only.

3 years old infiniti , full of everything u want, haze, light holograms , swirls
12 hours work for exterior , interior.
i will go over the exterior in this post.
the car is daily driver and garage outside. is no way perfection in this equation.
as some of you may know , to bring the black infiniti into a nice finish is a chellenge sometimes , because the soft paint they have.
correction process:
- optimum hyper polish spray on flex DA with polish pad
- 3m ultrafina on flex DA with blue 3m pad
- optimum car wax as protection
after each Hps and ultrafina was ipa wipe down and when finish before lsp was dawn wash to remove oils left and the car was inspected in the sun.

before , the car in the shade.

Man for two steps, well one real polishing step, the Infinity came out nice. I noticed the G37's don't have that typical soft paint. Anyway, nice job Cosmin.

How did you leave holgograms in the paint with ultrafina and a flex? Not to sound like a jerk but are you sure you did an IPA wipe down and a dawn wash after ultrafina? I really didn't see any major improvement in the paint defects at all. Sorry, but just being honest.

Barry, you do know that the last pictures is of a different vehicle? Which is why there is a BMW badge on the hood, and not an Infiniti logo.

sure do! Here is what I was talking about. See the holograms around the sun shot in the center of the hood. Im sorry just didn't see an improvement thats all. plus the uv filter he is using will mask some of the defects. I can tell this from the colors in the picture. I'm not trying to be mean here, but when a man claims to be doing things and he isn't. I just feel the need to say something. When using a flex you should have zero holograms left. With a product like ultrafina the oils will leave what appear to be holograms left behind. These are easily removed by using ipa wipedowns and or dawn wash. In the instance this gentleman claims he used both. So if he did the holograms are from improper procedures. To sum it up I didn't see no improvement in the correction. I wonder why he didn't get any direct finished camera flash shots when complete? JUst stating what I see. I may be wrong here, but if your gonna post you should be able to accept any comment.

That looks like the sun is in the lens making it look like holograms. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't know. I think its just something with the sun angle and the lens of the camera. And the hood shot in the 3rd picture compared to the last sun shot of the hood, you don't see a difference? REALLY? It may not be 100% but how can you not see a difference? The pictures before of the side of the car, and then the after of the quarter panel? No difference to you? Its still got some light swirls but it looks the same to you? Theres a big difference. Sorry.

Another thing, people on these forums just can't win. They take afters with flash and they want to see sun shots. You give them sun shots and they want to see flash shots. Which one is better and more believable? This cat catches so much sh*t on here.

this infiniti came up really well for 2 step and with a soft paint.
i know on soft paint is easy to leave holo so i took my time at buffing and wipe down ipa and wash the car with dawn and inspected in the sun on both sides before lsp.
i am not getting paid to take pictures , and i don`t post 50+ pictures tread with 20 pictures of a wheel from all angles possible. :Boxing:

I have to agree with Barry, I saw some improvement but from the after shots -it appears that there's more work to be done. I realize you said you were not going for 100% correction so I'll leave it at that.

I realize you said you were not going for 100% correction so I'll leave it at that.

every customer i have i do a "driver profile" that includes : is the car garage , is the car cover, is daily driver , what color is the vehicle , condition of the vehicle, how the paint is soft/hard, how the owner plans to keep the car is shape (2 bucket wash , touchless, car wash stations, maintenance program , etc), how much he wants to spend and what`s his expectations.
based on all this i recomand what is worth doing to the car not what i want to do to it.
of course it will be an improvement , they like it and they become regulars.
that`s my math

I dunno, personally I like to see cars sometimes where 100% correction wasn't the goal. As long as it's stated in the post and understood by the OP that perfection wasn't the intended outcome, I think it's refreshing to have some "normal" cars mixed in with all the ultra-high end details. I come here to learn, and I definitely learn from the 40 hr uber-details that Barry posts, but also from the one-steppers such as this one. I'm just starting out learning corrections for friends, neighbors, etc. and while everyone has been happy with my results so far, I'm scared to post anything because I don't want to get bashed for not achieving 95-100% right out of the gate. Maybe this site could use 2 different before & after sections like A****** has? Pro and joe sections? Or just split it up into marathon details and quick shines?

Anyway, I think the car looks much better than initially and I'm sure the customer was pleased. And if he was half as picky as some of us on this site, his car never would have made it to that condition anyway!

Knowing your customer and what their expectations are sounds simple, but I remember starting out a few years back, armed with all the great stuff I ordered off the internet - I was going to transform that 96 S10 Blazer into a Peeble Beach winner! After realizing I was working for peanuts, my customers didn't appreciate the polished lug nuts, and I was partly crazy - it hit, actually it was the wife that cut me to the bone with the observation that you can't polish a turd, clean it, wax it and let it go. I changed my method to wash, clay, 1 step with SIP and then wax. They weren't 100% but nobody but a detailer could tell (or give a sh!t). Then, over time I got some customers that did want the best it could be and wanted to get on a regular maintenance program. It's been a learning experience and one that I'm still improving every chance I get.

My goals now are to reduce the number of products, why? Money, time experimenting, taking time to learn/master each. And reduce the room needed for my stuff in the garage.

Best of luck to you and all fellow detailers - we are indeed a special breed!
