Soda on the headliner

My sister-in-law left cans of soda in her Chevy Equinox during the recent heat wave in the NY area. Well, they exploded and I guess you can use your imagination for what happened next. :shocked Now they ask the family detailer (me) to help. Any suggestions for cleaning this sticky mess? It has been set in for about a month now. :nixweiss

If the interior is cloth i heard of people using ISPA but i haven't had any experience with this problem. Theres many here who will chime in to offer the experience. good luck

For the headliner I'd use some type of foam cleaner. You don't want to over saturate the liner as the glue can lose it's ability to hold the liner up. By using foam this cuts down on how wet the fabric is getting. Woolite makes a upholstry foam type product which can be bought at any K-Mart, Walmart, etc....

For all the other areas like seats, dash, or whatever, I'd start with plain old water on a damp cloth and wipe or blot the areas. If the stains still persist, I'd use either a woolite mixture, or a stain remover that's safe for vinyl and leather like Folex. You could also use an all purpose cleaner that's safe for vinyl and leather also.

You can use carpet foam to clean the headliner, just be extra-gentle. Some foam, agitated with a towel (mf or terry) has gotten some headliner stains out, but it takes patience. I've also met scuffs in the headliner that wouldn't come out.

Woolite/Water mix on a towel very lightly usually does the trick for me

I 2nd this approach ... works every time for me. If needed, spray a little Meg's APC on the towel but usually the damp towel with Woolite mix does the trick.

Woolite and warm water. I had the exact same problem last spring. My mom left an unopened can of root beer in the car when it dipped below freezing at night. The can exploded, leaving root beer all over the headliner, rearview mirror, windshield, front door panels, and dashboard. A nasty mess, but Woolite came through for me.

I've have luck in the past with baby wipes....I figure it's made to clean up some of the nastiest stuff on the planet lol

I asked this same Question a Couple of Months ago, Woolite was suggested and also Folex instant Carpet Spot Remover. I had Folex, So I tried that. The soda came out very easy. I just sprayed Folex on a Washcloth and dabbed the soda, Came right out!!

I successfully removed dirt and oil from the headliner with Armor-All Oximagic. Some people here might know something about it that I dont, but it worked great for me. Way better than I expected.

Any suggestions for week old Soymilk (With a dash of Raspberry / Mint?) It's all over the headliner and probably baked a tiny bit.
