FWIW, expect the paint to be pretty damn hard. And keep in mind you don't have to do the whole car at once. You can break it up, fix up the hood, then some other time fix up the doors, etc.
It looks like that car has had parts repainted or something though. The rear bumper and the front gill panel look like they are either very oxidized single stage, or else the clear is totally shot on them. So don't expect them to polish out like new.
And if you don't want to order stuff, like Scott said, you can very likely buy Meguiar's pads locally from some pro places. You should be able to find 3M or Meg's polishes also.
Edit: also, it looks like your girlfriend is enjoying the car plenty, in spite of the so-so paint.
