So many choices...what is best?

Hi all, I am a NEWBIE here but I have to ask a burning question.

I have been detailing my cars with Meguiars and a PC 7424. I have been using the clay, 7, 9, and 26 in the pro series on my cars which are all Mercedes. I feel that I could get better results and a longer lasting wax from other "higher up" brands, but which is best?

So many to choose, Swissvax, Collinite, Zymol, Klasse, Wolfgang, Einzett, Menzerna, etc... which is the best for MB's type of paint? Which lasts the longest? I would like a easy on and off product is possible.

I know that I can do a wax/sealant combo but the prices go from pretty cheap to astronomical. I don't want to overspend on something that is just hype.

Meg's 105/205 & #7

Menzerna Power Lock/Power Finish & 85rd

Collinite 845

BFWD

IMO These items above are all proven winners. Each one also happens to be reasonably priced also

So, if I go with Menzerna, should I follow up the 85rd with the Polymer sealant? The 85rd looks to be a polish, but after I would need a wax or sealant to top off correct?

BTW- Thanks!

To improve the finish of the paint

Meguiars 105 Compund with Cyan Hydro Tech Pad
Meguiars 205 Polish with Tangerine Hydro Tech Pad

The above combo will work on your hard MB paint and will finish down quite nicely.

To protect your paint:

You can go with black fire wet diamond sealant which I love due to it's super easy on and off but, lately I have went back to my old favorite sealant line and that is Duragloss... I have fallen back in love with Duragloss 111.

I also agree that Megs M105/205 is such a proven winner, that you can't go wrong with it. The H2O Cayan and Tangerine pads do a nice job of taking care of the defects paired with the Megs twins. Also, IMO, BFWD is the best sealant you will find anywhere, and it is reasonably priced. If you wanted to top it and get additional protection, I would go with Collinite 845IW as Flash said.

You are sure to get many opinions on this. Whenever you ask which product is best, this will happen.

Also, welcome to TID!

Menzerna Power Lock is great. And Collinite is the old faithful, great stuff...Whats the best? ....Well whatsevers best for you....good luck...Steve

Great stuff guys!

So the expensive stuff such as Swissvax, Xymol, etc are not necessarily better? I was about to plunge on the Swissvax Cleaner wax and Saphir, but @ $169 I had to ask...is it really that much better than others.

I had had some discussion with some pro detailers and hear varied responses, but as said it is expected. The Menzerna line I think will get a tryout.

Looks come from polishing and prep not the wax. So if you want your car to really sparkle then you need to polish it correctly, the wax is the as I read Mike Phillips say icing on the cake. With that said certain waxes look better than others but I would go with the one you want because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have tons of waxes and sealants but my favorite to use is my homemade wax because it was my creation.

The Menz line is great too

Jon
