So I finally detailed a normal car

Scott, why does it never seem you get a car that's paint is really swirled? Always seems like you get cars that only need a "mostly" cosmetic polish and then wax it up. Obviously this car's paint was in pretty good condition.......

What's your point? Are you suggesting that Scott is not showing work that's representative of a skilled detailer because he is lucky enough to have customers who maintain their cars?

I get cars in crap shape. Look at my website (miscellaneous section).

BTW, the paint on the Millenia wasn't in great shape the first time I detailed it. He got hit by another car right after he got it and the body shop left swirls and overspray on the car. I don't always get before and after pics that show clearly what the car was like to begin with since it may look good when you step back a few feet, but terrible when up close, but my camera won't clearly focus at less than 2 feet.

Me too. I am probably going to get a new (or more likely, take advantage of the glut of late model used cars at low prices) car before the end of the year and the Millenia is one of the cars I am considering. For some reason, Mazda makes great cars but they depreciate more quickly than Hondas or Toyotas. I'd love to find a low mile late 80's/early 90's Mazda 626 GT 5 speed-those turbo engines were extremely strong for their day.

Please tell me that the Accord is going to stay in the family! I would be afraid to see what happens to that car if someone else bought it from you. :(

Interestingly enough, my first paying customer was a 97 Caviler :)

Mine was a late 80's Sentra with faded paint. I think I charged her $35 because I had no idea of the amount of time and effort it would actually take. My price went up immediately.

Scott you always outdo yourself must congratulate you on all I have seen from you.:bow

That black Bently and blue Ferrari you detailed a while back are now my Screen Saver:up keep them coming:wavey

Hope you do not mind that I am using your pictures as my screen savers:D

I been learning a lot from you and Autopia, thanks to all:bow

Woah, chill out there chief...How comes I ask SCOTTWAX a question and you flip out, while he was nice enough to explain to me? Where did you even get the suggestion that I was questioning his skill as a detailer? Anyone who's been on this board knows ScottWax is one of the premier detailers on this forum, along with a few others. And the pictures in this post just validate his "eliteness" as a detailer even more.

I've never seen Scott use a machine, all his jobs i've seen have been hand done. We know you can't always do a level of work equal to machine by hand. So I was just wondering how he was fortunate enough to always get details not needing a machine.

 The cavi was a simple wash, vacuum, dressed the tires, dash, etc. There was a LOT of dog hair, and used some masking tape to get what the shop vac didn't. It got more attention than I should have $30, but oh well, live and learn :)

Most of my clientel is high end, but even they get cars that are swirled by the dealer. If you looked at my website, then you will have seen that I have restored oxidized and swirl paint.

BTW, I have used a rotary when I took a body shop class and I used dboat's PC the last time I was at his house.

KC- I do have to agree with David that it did sound like you were implying that Scott's results were because of his luck, not his skill. However, you say thats not true so thats the end of that.

Scott, Amazing job, made the Millenia look like a million bucks!

Thanks. I detail it about every 6 months (like I have been doing for this one and his previous cars for the last 6-7 years), so it never gets too bad.

BTW, I was looking through Auto Trader and found more than a few late 90's Millenias with normal mileage for their age in the 8000-10,000 range. :up

It looks fantastic.

My uncle actually drives one of the same generation as that green one. Its a 96 I think... He likes it a lot, good and reliable, comfortable.
