Snow Removal

i think down here they were talking about making it illegal to drive with snow blowing off your car... we haven't had that much snow in a while here in dc metro but i'll use my arm more than likely

I know that I can't stand when I am on the highway and I am driving behind someone doing 65mph, and the snow from their car is flying up in the air. It's not cool when you get hit by that.

LOL! Sorry! :D

No large chunks coming off my car as I do wipe most of it off.

I know what you mean though. Large trucks are the worste for that.

Way too early in the year to be thinking about that!!!!

HEAT GUN!

Not really... I have a long-handle car-wash brush with that is very soft. I never use it to wash the car, but sometimes I'll brush snow off with it.

EDIT: If it's soft and fluffy, I've been known to use a LEAF BLOWER!

I've been know to use a leaf blower on my deck and driveway for light fluffy snow! :D

I was actually thinking of one of those long handled brushes. No damage to the paint?

I use a Meguiars long handled brush - the handle is black plastic and the head has white soft bristles that are fairly long and soft, but stiff enough to knock the snow off, but given the head is the standard size, it doesnt knock it off very fast. It has never scratched up my paint using it here the past few winters.
Just dont use anything hard - I just saw an accord where the husband used a snow shovel and he scratched the heck out of the hood! bad move, bad move, dude..
Another option is a car cover, it will carry all the snow and you just have to take if off and sometimes, the snow slides down the front of your shirt - can you say wake-up call?? :):):)
Take care,

Absolutely not! Very soft white bristles... (described below)

Yup... that's the one! I picked mine up at Advance Auto Parts when they were closing them out.

Like this one. They're a little hard to find now, but may still be available if you do an internet search.

65mph! :D

I only wipe off the glass, then drive away. If it's real deep I'll use my arm to brush off some of it but never come close to the paint.

+1

The glass is the only thing I completely remove the snow from. I wipe most of the heavy stuff off with my arm (leaving a few centimeters of snow left, I don't wanna touch the paint!). If you don't want your arm covered in snow, a snow brush with an MF wrapped it will work too.

I use a snow brum (actual name) to remove the snow. It does not seem to scratch like using something with bristles would. A good coat of wax or sealant helps the snow and ice slide right off. Hmmmm... I wonder if I could try BFWD on my ski's????

I saw a lady yesterday that was knocking the ice and snow off her car with a shovel

I have always just cranked the car up and let it run with the defrost on for about 30 minutes :wizard:

When I used to get 2-feet of snow on the vehicle it was easy if waxed well, otherwise I did carefully take it down to the paint using my arm (yeah I know :scared:) but I could still see at 65mph travelling on Mass highways. This didn't cause as much damage as driving by the sanding/salting trucks
