SMR application... just making sure

Use about a quarter size drop per 2x2 foot section, right? And then work with it until it pretty much buffs itself off? Same side of the towel? Switch to a clean side near the end of it (before final buffing)?

And about drying: in the midst of the "Perfect Drying Technique" and everything, I've gotta ask: available to me tomorrow is a fresh stock of 100% cotton Viking "Detailer's Choice" towels and about seven MF's (Turtle Wax MF's...). Which should go to drying? That cotton wouldn't hurt... would it?

On the SMR that's about right for buffing quantity, it's hard to go wrong. It's more important not to use too little. It's bad to let the pad go dry. And I do not like to bff until the residue buffs away completely or goes dry. This can cause swirls. Buff until it breaks down or until you start to notice the SMR get just a bit weaker or watery in consistency. This means it has broken down. It just takes a minute or two at a speed of 3 to 4. Use the white or orange pad.

If you are doing this by hand it's better to use a pure foam pad and not a towel. This will give you better distribution of the material. Use back and forth motions only. Use even pressure and try not to use individual fingers. This leaves "hot spots" of pressure.

Soft 100% cotton towels, without sewn patterns or edging are acceptable drying towels. They are not nearly as soft as microfiber waffleweave towels. You really need to try them!

Yes, I need to try the waffleweave MF's, and yes, I NEED A PC!

But thanks... =:p

Yeah, a weird thing I've noticed about 100% cotton is that it often does not feel that soft... like, you know the 100% chenille mitts? They don't feel that great, but they're supposed to be so wonderful. I'll be trying one tomorrow.
