Smoke Oders

How can I get it in less than 2 hours, doing the car this afternoon. Gary
Call janitorial supply stores in your area to see if you can rent an ozone generator. In Omaha, I can get it for about $25/day. That coupled with Febreze (available from any grocery store, or there's a version marketed for automobiles that can be found with detailing supplies at some parts stores) should make short work of the odor.

Tobacco smoke is one of the most difficult smells to remove from a car, as the smoke permeates almost every interior finish.

Start by cleaning the carpets and upholstery with an extractor and 303 Carpet & Spot Remover TM. Clean leather and vinyl surfaces with approved cleaners once the carpet has dried for 24 hours, sprinkle with baking soda, rub it in to ensure that it penetrates the fibres and leave it for about a week, then vacuum the carpet to remove. The baking soda should absorb the remaining odour in the carpet.

Don't forget the headliner, as this is the source of most of the tobacco smell. Vacuum the headliner and then without saturating the material use 303 Carpet & Spot Remover TM to clean, as this is the source of a lot of the smell

~Hope this helps ~

Is that Febreeze something that is sprayed inside? or used to clean carpet/leather etc. I think the smell has got into everything. I will go to Jon-Don (janitorial house) on my way to the shop, see what they have. have you heard of Oder X? Gary

infiniti for a friend who got it from a relative who smoked like a chimney - I did the following -

I extracted all the fabric surfaces (including the headliner) using the solution with about 1/4 cup baking soda added in. Then when I was done and they were still drying I used Febreeze anitmicrobal to inhibit any mold and kill anything in there - When dry I did one more extraction just to get the strong febreeze smell out.

Clean the hard surfaces really good - I used Meg's #39 - heavy duty vinyl cleaner on all dash/trim/door inserts - what have you -

Leather got cleaned with 4* Platinum Leather Cleaner and then 4* Leather Conditioner (has a nice real leather smell).

Treated all the cleaned interior with #40 cleaner and conditioner (to be sure it was extra clean) - I'll be dammed if it didn't smell like a new car when all was said and done.

This works at home, I don't know if you guys have tried it.

Vinegar...

Place a bowl of vinegar in the car overnight, or as long as possible. (just make sure the bowl won't tip over hehe).

Best if you have your A/C system flushed and cleaned as well.
