<em class='bbc'><span style='color: red'>LMAO! I never did that when I was a dealership detailer. I always treated every vehicle like it was my own.

and I never changed the station on the radio..... if I didnt like what the owner had on, I would just turn the radio OFF.

incidently, I went to the shop one time and when I got it back all my radio PRESETS were changed. [/i]

I do find this ironic, considering his postings on the thread <strong class='bbc'>What to do with possessions[/b] under Professional Detailers!

OK so obviously you didnt read...... I do make exceptions for items I keep. Also this is a completely different issue, if you hadnt noticed. I feel that as far as stereo settings, seat settings, etc. those are items which should not be changed under any circumstances. 'Stuff' (that is not a part of the vehicle) should be cared for separately. I treat it as my own, but I feel it is only a small request to take care of your own stuff.

About three years ago one guy took his AC Cobra replica into to a pretty highly regarded car wash have the car PROFESSIONAL detailed on the East Coast. BIG MISTAKE: He comes back four hours later and notices his car over in a corner with about 10 guys standing around it. He starts to walk over and as he gets closer he notices water running out of the door on the driving side. He gets all the way over there and finds out that one of the MORONS had actaully ran it through the car wash before anyone could stop him. There is still literally an inch of water in the footboxes, etc. Blew out the electrical on the gauges, ruined carpets, etc. To top if off the car wash operator said they weren't responisible. THey supposely said "We are not responsible, the guy is an idiot." Owner of the Cobra said something like "Yeah, he is, but he is your idiot when he working here. THey ended up paying the damages, how much I don't know.

I met the guy this happened to at a Cobra Race in St. Louis in 1999. He said he learned a major lesson. He still hasn't leanred them yet. He still takes the COBRA valet parking when he and the wife go out. NOT A CHANCE. I do all my own detailing and stuff on my AC Cobra. No way I would allow some CAR WASH to handle it.

They say, "If you're going to buy a Jaguar you should buy two because one of them will always be in the shop.". :) [/b]</blockquote>
lol. Don't know about the new Jags, but my family went through 3 of the earlier generation ones over period of 9 years (long 4 door model, XJSV12-2 door, XK8-2 door), and I can't believe all the problems I experienced during the first 50K miles. Some of the silly problems include Engine check lights (2 times), engine stall intermittently (brought in 2 times but they could never fix it), over heated, hood won't shut tight, etc, etc... The cars were always serviced on schedule by the dealer. Maybe I'm just bad luck.

Wow, that really is something else with the Jag's. I used to valet park and we had a few with around 1,000 miles to around 30,000 and I used to pop the hoods on them, look under the car and all that stuff, I never noticed any odd glitches but jeepers, you guys make them sound like thier all hype.....

Waaaaaait a second, doesn't Ford Motor Comp own Jag now?

Funny just thought I'd add to this.

My cousin has two jags at the moment.... never learns.

He just recently took delivery of the second just before a cross country trip. The car overheated twice and the power steering went out over a period of 5 days. They had to extend their trip by 3 days to wait on parts for the fix.

On a side note.

A friend of the family while in town visiting my father recently decided to buy a new Suburban. Later that week he drove back to FL. Made it all the way there and parked the car. A few hours later he went out to start it and nothing. The car was dead. With 400 miles on it it went back in the shop.

Just thought I'd add to it. No offense to anyone please. Just stories.

My Jag has been in for service too many times already, but I still love the car. The car is a dream to drive and all Jags look great if properly maintained. There seems to be a service trade off for all the luxury, but for most Jag owners it's well worth it. Besides, it's an opportunity to get to know all those wonderful people at the dealership. ;)

I am currently working on a White HHR Panel... have washed it and clayed it.
but there are still little specs of something randomly around the vehicle... they kind of look like rust spots almost.

i ended up working a couple areas again with the clay and if i go over the spots one by one with some work... some of them end up going away. cant see doing it to every last spec.

looking for ideas on how to remove these??

Are there more of these spots on the sides like behind the wheelwells on the fenders, or are they all over including the top of the vehicle?

Do you have any idea of the history of the vehicle? Detailed every year, never detailed in its life, etc..?

If it looks like brown spots and they dont come out easily even with clay, they might very well be embedded sintered iron, etc., from brakes, maybe even from when the vehicle came in off the rail car if it was delivered by rail.

Believe there is a product sold here that helps remove these iron particles, and if not, there is a product for this at detailed bliss dot com.

I have done a few white vehicles but never had the pleasure of meeting these little critters you speak of yet..
Good luck with this !

vehicle was purchased a little over a year ago and only had 800 miles on it... since then nothing has been done to it. I am finally able to get my hands on it and get something done to it. i do remember seeing the spots right after the owner had got it so they were on there when bought

they are all over the vehicle including some randomly on top... i just tried getting pics but they just wont show up... lol

I had done another white car before but definitely had none of these on that one.

Just thought of something else - its a big hit over here in the Great NorthWet -
artillery fungus - attacks shiny objects and attaches itself so hard that its almost impossible to remove, I have had to remove it sometimes with Goof-Off and lots of Qtips. These little suckers are also brown, and clay doesnt always shear them off either. but the Goof-Off will eventually get them off.

Believe the name of a product that removes iron particles from paint is called IronX, Google will help you find out more about this type of product..

Believe its some type of a nasty smelling soap like substance you rub all over the car, wait for it to turn a certain color where it is attacking the embedded iron particles, and then wash and rinse, something like that...
Good luck

Good advice Dan. Why Ryan first told me I thought it was rail dust. I would have suggested a more aggressive clay, or IronX/Iron Cut to remove the particles. It is possible it may be removable by chemical means too.
