Small blue circles on black pearl metallic

I got the Scion Tc on Wednesday and washed it yesterday morning, I was going to clay it but it was so slick and smooth, I did not, just put on a quick coat of WAUD. When I dried it I noticed some small blue circles ( on black pearl) about 1/8 inch in diameter. I had some scratch x in my hand and they came off with NO effort. This evening after a good ride, I washed it up and noticed the same thing, several dots. I hit them with some Megs QD and they came right off with a little effort. What are they? Is this some rail dust? and I should have clayed? Don't get me wrong here, the car looks beautiful but these dots turn up that just surprise me.

Hard to tell without photos. If you get a 30X lighted magnifier you can examine them in more detail if they reappear. It sure seems strange if they are reappearing in the same spot once polished or QDed off :nixweiss

Bill, I do not think they appear in the same spots. I will have to watch carefully. I am away from home and don't have all my normal "tools" handy, that's why I just went with the WAUD.

Might be sap falling on the car? I usually don't have a sap problem at my house, but last weekend, I kept finding new spots that I thought I missed...finally figured out they were landing as I was working...still haven't located the responsible tree.

This time of year here in New York its like a constant rain of tree sap. I would bet money thats what it is. Little dots, and when you wipe them after they dry for alittle it makes this cloudy curved line. Any QD spray takes it right off no need to waste your wax or polish!! Chris

pdsterns welcome to the world of thin clearcoat and crappy paint haha, j/p. but yeah, if you haven't yet, read up on the scionlife site for info on your new car. i got an xb although i wanted a tc (gf has a grip on me), still happy though. scions are notorious for paint problems so you may be on these forums a lot haha.

I recently had a situation where I was detailing a customers car, which she had parked under a tree in order to keep me in a shady area out of the sun. As I was working I began to notice small spots on the windshield. At first I figured is was old dried tree sap that had hardened up and remained only on the windshield. However, I quickly realized that it was fresh tree sap falling from above and it was covering the entire car. I had to move the car away from the tree, rewash it and polish and wax all affected areas.

Edie, Thanks for the tip on the website, I have not been there yet. The good part is that my paint is excellent, I mean some OP but overall it is very very good. The Tc is really very nice, what a car for the price.

Mirrorman and others, thanks for all the ideas but I don't think it is sap, maybe overspray from the WAUD though. I am not sure if it can be felt or if it is only color. I'll keep a close eye on it and see if I can figure it out. If it were rail dust would it show up with a little discoloration after washing ie gets wet, rust bleeds, looks a little different?

got any pictures?

heres my TC
