Sliding Floor Mat!

Hey Guys... I have a Firebird and that driver side floor mat will NOT stay in place. Everytime I get in, no matter how careful I am the floor mat gets all crooked and slides up near the pedals.

What could I do to prevent this, and to keep it in place. Many cars nowadays have a hole in the floor mat and it hooks onto a little clip on the carpet to keep it in place.

Does anyone make something that can stick to my floor mat and carpet?

Thanks

How about some of that material that is place under rugs to keep them from sliding on the floor. You could even velcro it into place.

I thought about using just plain ole velcro, but what if I ever needed to take the velcro off, do you think it would bring up the carpet itself?

What about just getting new mats that don't slip? That may sound like a silly suggestion, but for under $40 you could get great mats that fit your car and then be done with the issue.

Eitherwise, I can recall seeing some clips that hold mats in place.

well is your normal floor carpeted? because that way - you could place male velcro onto the underside of the mat and stick it to your carpet. that way - nothing directly onto your car carpet.

I have used the plastic anchors and the metal clips. The metal clips work best. Pep Boys, AutoZone ect. will have them.

Agree with Uncle. Nice alternative.

Well I would get new floor mats, but im afraid it will just happen again and its rather hard finding floor mats (unless from the dealership) that fits the contours of the Firebird.

I may ride up to Advanced Auto and see if I cant find those clips you are talking about.

True, but why spend 50 bucks for new mats when I spend 5 bucks and buy something to keep them in place ya know.

I also went to my local auto place and I couldnt find the clips you guys were talking about. Can anyone tell me what brand they were or more information.

I thank you all for your help.

Whynot try double sided tape (carpet tape)? You would probably have to replace it fequently, but it's cheap, easy to apply, widely available, and shouldn't harm the underlying carpet.

Hmm I also thought about double sided tape but was afraid of the harm of the carpet.

When you say double sided carpet tape is that the same as double sided tape?

I had to pick some up today for another use so i have plenty left. On the package I dont remember it saying anything about carpet tape, but it did say heavy duty.

I have something similar to these, (metal vs plastic) to hold the mats in my Civic Wagon, and they do a great job.

Good luck with your quest!!:)

Yep, those are what I have in my car too. I actually have the hooks on my floor that would go through factory mats. But I bought my car used and it didn't come w/ factory mats. Had some custom cut, but the place was out of gromets at the time. Went back to em a couple times and they never got any in stock, so they just gave me those clamps. Work like a charm.

Awesome, now tell me exactly how they work? What part attaches to the floor? Im a bit confused or im possibly burnt out from studying and am just not understanding anything right now.
