Simple Green comparable to Meg's APC?

How does Simple Green that I can grab from Wal-Mart compare to Meguair's Green APC? Theyre both green and have similar dulition rates, but how's the cleaning power and effectiveness? The reason I ask is because I ran out of Meg's APC and need a quick alternative. thanks

simple green is a lot harsher than meg's APC. It's very effective on engine bays and good hard to clean grime But you really have to watch it on interior surfaces if you use APC on them. Simple green can strip color out if diluted to strongly. I tend to use alot of ZEP's APC from Home depot. Good cleaning power but safe on interiors as well. (still always have a gallon of SG kickin around for more demanding issues that may come up)

Because of issues with certain metals being discolored or clouded by regular SG, I frequently use SG Pro HD. It can be bought at Home Depot by the gallon and is safe for metals. I use it for engines, wheels, tires, wheel wells and occasionally for removing old wax. But if I use it to remove wax, its used VERY diluted and mixed with dawn. I've never had an issue yet.

Megs APC is safe enough to use on interior leather. Simple green is pretty harsh, I have even seen it discolor plastic.

^^^^ ....I hate the lingering smell. However, if I were to use it on my vehicles, I would opt for the Pro HD (as DRT mentioned) or their Aircraft & Precision Cleaner instead.

Zep Heavy Duty Citrus Degreaser makes a great all around APC too. Use it for a lot of things, 15 to 1 for a kitchen cleaner, 1:1 for really stubborn dirt under hood, and wheel wells, 10:1 for tires, 30:1 for interior cleaning. 30:1 seems to do a good job at stripping LSP's too.

simple green works good on carpets when diluted down very well and some hot water but i wouldn't use it on interior surfaces like leather or vinyl.
