Simple Geen

I am looking for the best solution to detail my engine of my 2005 Chrysler300. Would Simple Green full strength be my best best or what do you the experts recommend :dancin

When I used Simple Green diluted 50% with water, I felt it took some of the shine off of some painted areas of the engine compartment I was working on. I haven't used the stuff on paint or aluminum since.

On a 2005, I would think you could just wash it with your regular car wash solution and only need to use a degreaser in a very few places.
Our 2000 GTP and our 1998 TranSport are cleaned that way regularly and they still clean up good.
One thing I use once in a while is S100 Total Cycle Cleaner diluted with about 30% water to spray into the areas I can't reach. Works great. I think P21S has the same thing called Total Auto Wash.

Yeah, the butyl content can be a concern on paint and metal surfaces. I would stay away. However, thee are other all purpose cleaners without this worry. I was taking a look at Auto Magic's Triple Seven All Purpose Cleaner.

Remember, when it comes to engines, especially the most sophisticated, brand new ones, procedure with extreme caution and be sure to do plenty of masking of sensitive components first.

Thanks guys. I have recently been bitten by the detail bug, I'm sure you all know the inventory I have amased in a very dhort period of time i.e., Wolfgang, PC, Grit gaurd.....but certainly the most valuable is membership in this forum and association with all of you.

Your comments and feed back are truly appreciated. :jump

In a one gallon bottle, add 1 & 1/2 quart of Simple Green and fillup the rest with deionized water, spray on engine to clean and degrease, also on wheels and wheel wells and watch the brake dust fly off. Also spray on wind shield to remove bugs with easy. Have been doing this with my clients cars and personal vehicles since I started almost 6 years ago and no damage to my clients or personal vehicles.

i use simple green a lot lately on my clearcoatd white wheels and in almost every detaila nd have seen no problems. i do have it diluted 9:1 tho but i think it determines a lot on if and how long u let it sit and dry. i only sg my wheels/tires probably once every 3-4 weeks so u really shouldnt have to use a strong degreaser as long as u maintain u're wheels regularly

The US Air Force has a directive that prevents the use of Simple Green on (of rnear) ANY airframe.

That should be an alert...

The stuff is corrosive, and will damage aluminum.

With so many other options, I don't use it.

I use simple green diluted 3-1 and works well on tires/wheels/engines. If that doesn't cut it, it use 1-1. Just be VERY careful what you get it on...

I use it on tires, wheel wells, engine, exhaust, underbody, and gas tank cover. Havent seen any harmful effects yet.

What he said:

Making sure the surface is cool usually helps also. Then top it off with a very good rinse. I have never had any problems.

I have used it on engine, wheels, wells, tires, some paint, and plastic panels.
