Silver 2007 Mercedes S550

This car is one of the first S550's to hit the ground and I had the pleasure to work on it.

Obviously the car is brand new, but I wanted to protect the paint from the sand & salt around here. It was a pretty easy process.

Washed exterior

Cleaned wheels & tires

Hand application of Werkstatt's Prime on the exterior and wheels

2 coats of Acrylic Jett by hand

Wiped down paint with Acrylic Glos

Super Blue Dressing on tires & wheel wells

OCW on exterior glass

The detail looks great, but man, those cars just don't do it for me. Yucko on the design.

Really?? I think the new design is awesome. It looks like a mini Maybach.

Silver helps this car lots! It looks like a machine and I'm liking that.:)

Looking like a Maybach is a bad thing even though it does. The Maybach isn't a good looking car at all to me but it is "nice."

I just browsed MBUSA and aside from all of the technological marvels this car has, I was most impressed with this one very simple, but also very Autopian option:

2007 Accessories

Trunk Handle

Made of stainless steel in polished or satin finish, this Trunk Handle attaches to the license plate to help prevent fingerprints and reduce the possibility of scratching the finish on your S-Class.

Great work as always Rick. Almost looks as good as my silver paint..;) :D

Benz does a wonderful silver paint and these new S-Class are very stately.

That first pic was probably even better in person as silver flake tends to really confuse the digital chip in most cameras unless you control the exposure manually or meter off subject.

Does it have the new CeramiClear paint?

Will you require some special polishes/compounds to work on these types of paints in the future? (ie, some of the newer Menzerna stuff)

I think the car looks great... except for that extra wart/horn on the trunk. You'd think that the one antenna on the roof would be enough.

That hood shot is incredible! Looks like a layer of wet covering it.

I haven't even seen an '07 S Class on the road yet but you've already touched one. I'm jealous even though the styling leaves me feeling a bit sad.

All I can say is the 7 Series isn't alone in the controversial looks category anymore...

Amen :chuckle:

My Father is looking at one of these . . . UGH, I just don't know what to say.

Fantastic work, Rick :2thumbs:

Great initial detail on an exquisite new car. I saw one of the new S550s at the Louisville auto show last month. Like many, the first thing I thought when I saw it was how much it resembled a Maybach. The second thing I noticed was that the trunk lid resembled those of the BMW 7 series. The whole design and interior layout works for me; it's a bold, fresh look that's not over the top. You make it look even better!

Rick,

Super job!

Woot, I cant imagine throw in set of 22" spinners :soscared:

For the love of all that is good I hope that idea never becomes reality.

Anyway, why a sharkfin on the roof and the trunk? Sirius AND XM?? Still don't like the styling of those.
