*sigh... Why can't they just listen...

LOL, at one forum I got warned for adamantly stating that it is not a good idea to recommend Tilex for vinyl convertible tops. It was probably because the person recommending Tilex is a Moderator.

I figured, fuggedaboudit, and I don't play there any more.

I blow it mostly dry with a leaf blower.

Of course, this is just my opinion. YMMV

Sam

well that aint the greatest idea either.......where does all that air come from that gets blown all over your car?..........from the intake side of the motor so unless youve got a filter on that end your just "sucking in dirty air and spitting it all over your car!!"

First that the nozzle off and turn the flow way down. Apply to car to let it sheet the water off 95% of the water standing on your car is gone. Then take a leaf blower to blow excess water off. There goes another 4%. Then take te Absorber to touch up places that are not dry. Good luck....................

This is similar to my technique. I use the hose without the sprayer on it to stream water all over the car (please take note I did not say spray). This will cause all the water to sheet off the car especially if you have a decent coat of LSP on your car. Next I absorb the little water that remains with a WW towel. Personally, I've always been concerned about using a leaf blower for the same reasons stated in the previous post.

I personal sheet the water off with an open hose, then blot up remaining water with a WW MF, then I pull out a leaf blower and do grills, mirrors, door cracks, etc etc then blot that water up with a WW MF. Then I'll QD the car. hasn't hurt anything yet.

For detailing towels and so forth including microfiber towels . I usually use hot water and alittle dish washin detergent . But never use fabric softener , I guess the chemicals in the fabric softener does something to the fibers in the towels in which the only way of correcting the issue is boiling them in scalding hot water for 15 mins .

you gotta go back to dealership to get some touchup paint.

Boiling water for microfiber? touch up paint for swirls? AHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm afraid to go back to the detailing section.... :hide:

But boiling water is 212 degrees Farenheit and that is a far cry from 95.

So that sounds like it may harm many fabrics ??
95' C is 203' F. If you're trying to save some MF towels that are headed for rag duty anyway, it's worth a shot. I've done it before; didn't seem to hurt the towels any, but it really didn't seem to help much, either.

I put a large stock pot full of water on the stove, brought it to a simmer, killed the heat then added the towels. Soaked for about 30 minutes, then washed as normal.

The poster said HOT water. Anyway the maufacturers say that no danger of fiber shrinkage even when put in boiling hot water.

I wash mines in warm water...

Sorry I didn't see the "C" for Celsius, you are correct. Do you guys throw your polish and wax towels in the washer with your polishing / waxing pads ? I was wondering if the stuff comes off the pads and gets on the towels ?

*sigh* just a slight breeze when you are drying your car and there ya go with enough dust to scratch the crap out of your paint... And if you live at an area where the climate is relatively dry, you can expect more of it... :(

I wash all of my pads by hand. They don't seem to come very clean for me when machine washed. They just float around in the washer.

I spray all my pads and applicators with APC now. Cleans them in 2 seconds flat, and rinses out easier than dawn.

Hmm I'll have to try that. You just spray them and rinse, or do you scrub them a little too?

Helps to throw them in a bucket of water till cleaning so nothing dries on them.

I just wanted to chime in again and give a big :up to all the detailers at S2KI.com (S2000 owners club). 99% of the people in the wash & wax section are very knowledgeable. You very rarely hear anything crazy like "use a chamois to dry your car anything else will scratch the finish."
