sidewall scuffs?

Anyone here know a good way to get rid of a sidewall scuff from getting too close to a curb?



Protectant (I'm using Megs #40, Z16 or 303 Aerospace, depending on my mood) doesn't soak in evenly and looks patchy.



Was thinking maybe a good scrub with #0000 steel wool would help. Anyone with any other suggestions?

Maybe a brass white wall brush.



They must be really bad though because when I scuff my sidewalls, which I do very rarely because I usually just drive completely over the curb, they can't be seen after I dress my tires.
