SHOWDOWN: Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel v. Poorboy's Bold N Bright v. Optimum Tire Shine

Thanks for the reviews. I use Poorboys on most all my details and love it. Before Poorboys I used Megs Hyper Dressing, which worked good too. Poorboys is my favorite and this thread helps prove why. I think that most all products sold on this site are good as long as they are used in the right ways.

Hmm... Based on your finding I would seriously consider getting / switching to Optimum.

One thing I have always wanted to try is the Optimum Spray Gun for spraying on dressing like Opti-Bond Tire Gel. The great thing is you dilute the water based gel dressing 1:1 or even 2:1 and spray it on. So 2x+ the product.

You are absolutely correct. Prep before applying a product is very crucial. I was satisfied with all three dressings and will rotate my dressings after every wash. Just all depends on which flavor I like that day.

You have a good eye Troy. I've also been curious about their spray gun to apply their dressing. Nothing but great reviews about it. I am purchasing a bottle of Optimum Tire Shine to include in my line up. It's also amazing how each dressing looks and performs on different tires. My mother-in-law's tires on her Scion xB for example only look good with Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel compared to PB and Optimum. She has a smooth tire all the way around so I'm wondering if the gel just clings on better. Thanks for your observations in my shoot out.
I do like PB's for the cleaners like after a rinseless but prefer Optimum for looks.
I agree with you, Bunky. I also love the cleaners in BnB. I wonder if I can clean my tires with BnB and put a coat of Optimum right on top.

Excellent write up. Thanks for doing this.
I may be intersted in the Poorboy's tire spray. Just one question. Does it sling at all? I HATE having detailed my car/truck, take it for a ride and then have tire dressing all along the side.
I currently use the Zaino tire shine and it works rather well.

I've never experienced any sling using BnB. All the three dressings for this showdown were sling free. I'm a strong believer in prepping the tire thoroughly before applying any dressing.

+1

And make sure you give the tire a quick wipe after if it worries you.

just stumbled upon this thread debating almost exactly these three products...great review.

i have only used the pinnacle gel dressing and have enjoyed the results but never noticed the purple tint you were talking about but it is definitely there in the picture. i have a little left i will try soon and see if i can get a good picture of the tint to the dressing

this review left me leaning towards bold n bright just not sure if i want spray or gel
i like the idea of the cleaning aspect of the product. definitely will help on the rinseless washes as noted previously.
