Should I pass on a Lexus dealer wash??

yeah, i too had my acura dealership wash my car for the last time. although the dealership itself was nice and the people there were really friendly, the car washing guys in the back did not do a good job.

at least i was able to practice for the first time with my UDM and i watched as 85 percent of the swirls went away. (I was too scared to push down any harder for my first time)

so moral of story, DONT LET THE DEALERSHIP WASH YOUR CAR!

=)

Well last week I purchased my "Second" brand new car (Tundra CrewMax). When my sales rep told me to give him some time to have it washed etc., I relayed that whole Lexus story to him. He admitted that he suspected the car wash there is what probably put some "mysterious" scratches on his vehicle. You would think these dealerships would learn and do something about it.

Uhh...no.

Tell them not to wash it, and in addition to that put up "Do Not Wash" signs on the dash and steering wheel.

Exactly. And visually check to see that the service writer wrote "do not wash" on your service ticket. Even though you tell them, the porters always seem absent minded and they have the car washed. Happened to me too many times.

I've found that a firm but polite discussion with the owner of the dealership ("do you want my business?") can work wonders.

Even when they wash it without messing up the paint (which is rare), watch out for the greasy tire dressing they leave all over the rims (that attract brake dust) and flings all down the side of the car. One of my customers took her 330 to Moritz for service, telling them "no wash" when she brought it in. Anyway, she is waiting for them to bring up her car when it was finished and it took a good 30 minutes. Why the delay? They decided to wash it anyway. By the time she got home, the bottom 3rd of her titanium silver BMW was black from the tire dressing slinging off the tires. Not to mention it was all over her wheels too.

Lovely, eh?

OMG, I would have beeen soooooo pissed. Did she take this picture back to the dealer and lay the smack down? Wow! You spend that kind of money on a car, and you expect the dealer to honor your wishes...

I let the dealer wash my car before only once, and they put that tire dressing and it slinged off into my door panels, but those pics from scott are just awful!

I have a Lexus and a great dealer.

I have very specific instructions on my profile DO NOT WASH!!

I really think very highly about the dealer but nobody but me washes either of my vehicles.

The dealer did that to my car! And my wife's black car was scratched because the clean up crew dried it with a dirty towel.

I will not let the dealership wash my cars!

If you want your car swirled, go find a high school charity car wash and get the cute, soapy and wet girls to wash your car. You'll at least leave the place with JO material for years to cum, I mean come. If you get it washed by the dealer, you'll just get screwed in the rear twice: once for overpaying for the repair work, and then after the wash your new car will have dealer-installed swirls. At least they won't charge for the swirls. =)

LOL you sure can't beat the view though

I own a black 2006 GS300 and I take it to the dealer every 5K miles for an oil change. I always specify "No Wash" and they understand. They're not even surprised at the request. I'm sure a lot of people request that. Never, ever let anyone else touch your car. Before you leave your car in the dealership, check the work order sheet and make sure that "No Wash" is written in BOLD letters.

the answer is simple... NO. get aquainted with your car and do it yourself...

when i was at the dealership a week ago, i walked back from the mall only to see a few employees washing the brand new cars. one was using a pressure washer (no soap) and the other was drying/rubbing it down, grinding dirt with a dirty chamois he was using from one car to another! :down

No way!!!!!!!! I have a customer with over 65 cars. Lucky for me I am his sole detailer. Keeps me very busy. But I have explained to him that even the dealerships with screw up my work if he has them washed there. I have pleaded with him to let only me wash them. It is amazing the swirls I have dealt with on his Euro's (Rolls, Bentleys, Astins, Benz's) jsut from the dealers car washes.

New here and am trying to figure this picture posting thing out. Once I do I can chow everyone the extent of his car collection. Just this week i detailed his Bugatti. I backed it in and out of the garage about twenty times just to get behind the wheel and start it up. 246 MPH!!!!!!!! What a car!!!:shocked :shocked

She took the pictures down to Moritz, along with the pictures after I cleaned up the mess and told them that was exactly why they were to never wash her car.

She was a supervisor with the TSA (she is finishing up her Secret Service training in the next few weeks) so I am sure at the time she could have arranged painful body cavity searches for those involved with messing up her car. :hifive:

I remember swinging by Toyota for the 5k maintenance on the scion and I wanted to make sure they didn't do car washes. I simply asked the guy "car washes aren't included correct?" and he kind of rolls his eyes at me and says "no, we only do car washes at our LEXUS dealership". I just told him "that's fine, I enjoy washing my car". Some ppl are just rude.
