I have been considering buying a rotary/orbital buffer for the car, and i have been considering the Meguiars Cordless model...



does anyone have any experience with this product? or should i go straight for the PC?



any advice is appreciated.



Also, would i be able to use this product everytime? or only when i find some trouble spots...

Luke, a couple of guys have tried the Megs cordless and have had trouble with the batteries dying quickly.



I think you'll find most people will say just get the PC straight away. Several of us :brit's have bought from autopia, great service :xyxthumbs



Would you use it everytime? That depends on what you call 'everytime', and the products you have available to you and what you want to use on your car.
 
well lemme clarify my situation. i have a brand new Nissan Xtrail, less than 10 months old, always garaged, and i use meguiars products on it exclussively, both consumer and professional range.



I probably polish and wax it every 4 weeks or so.. paint is in EXCELLENT condition and i wondered if i would get better results by using the PC instead of by hand.



My mother does have a Renault megane convertible, and my dad has an alfa 166 both which are daily drivers and do get swirled...i was wondering if using the pc would help that...



another thing i am scared of doin, is actually causing more damage to the paint by using a PC..by burning the paint, or scratchin of some sorts... should i stick to just hand application
 
You will probably benefit from a PC. You should be able to get better results than by hand, your arms won't ache as much (though you won't build up huge muscles to impress the ladies :p ) and you should be able to save time by using the PC compared to hand polishing.



You've probably noticed some products are recommended for machine use only, DACP is one of them. Unless you are Scottwax you will struggle with that by hand.



As for doing damage, that is highly unlikely. Burning the paint, nope, it doesn't build up enough heat to do so.



If it wasn't such a safe easy to use tool, it wouldn't be so highly thought of and recommended here.
 
I tried a couple of different Sears type orbitals, both cordless and corded and they just don't/can't cut the mustard.



I could have saved a $100 or so by just going directly to the PC...but then I hadn't found this site or Detail City at that time. The PC is the way to go.
 
thanks alot... i'm expectin to have $250 to spend within a month...gotta decide whether i should get a PC wit a couple products, or loads of products and accessories, or a paintball gun hehe
