Shop vac..?

Now that im getting more into serious detailing wanna buy my own shop vac..Was usng father-in laws Rigid 3.5 hp vac...
Worked well, but was considering in getting something w/ a higher Hp. Do you think I really need to since the 3.5 worked fine...Just wondering what size vac everyone else is using..Thanks J....
 
When shopping for a vac, check out the following specs:

CFM
Motor Amps
Sealed Pressure
Water lift
Db (how loud the vac is)

Then checkout HP, price and size.

I have heard good things about the rigid vac and if I remember correctly Consumer reports rated a rigid #1, but that was about two years ago.

I wanna say mine is 6 hp, 12 gallon, it's the ShopVac brand that I got at Lowes for $89 or so. I comes with the 2.5 inch hose, so I got the 1.5 inch with attachments. You get more pull with the smaller hose and it fits better in cars.
 
I got mine at home depot. Its a rigid 6.5hp, wet and dry. You defanitely want one with water lift. What I like about mine is it is also a leaf blower that detaches form the vac. Really good for drying carpets and cracks.:D
