Shop Vac Comparison -Which one would you pick??

Jimmy Buffit: I looked at the Fein products also and they are superb. We decided on an Alto (WAP)-German made-stainless, hepa vac and it is magnificent.

The European products are outstanding primarily because of the motors they use, very high performance, high suction (the Alto produces nearly the same lift and air flow as the Pullmans we have used for nearly 20 years BUT on approx 1/2 the current and 1/10 the noise-its truly amazing how quiet it is, approx 56db). Additionally the manner in which the exhaust air is diffused is incredible, just a meter or so from the machnine there is no significant air movement, important if you are in hostile environments.

Then again the Feins are not inexpensive and the Alto set us back nearly $1,400 USD for the machine only. The German bags are pricey, $8.00 USD each, but not a single one has burst and to me they are worth the cost.

These vacs, I am certain you will also agree, are worth every penney.

I agree that it is an awful lot of cash, it is used in a business where very hazardous materials are present so of course the cost is not a consideration at all.

I realize that not many here would have an interest in machines of this quality and I mention it only for those who may wish info on very high end vacuums, and by the way, there are much more expensive machines.

The absolute finest we saw and had demonstrated was a Nilfisk/CFM vacuum, Italian made, bullet proof and roughly twice the cost of the WAP but no bagging system, and dry pickup only AND a Nilfisk dual motor unit even more expensive but again dry only.

If you are a professional look into any of these, the lack of noise alone will probably convince you to purchase one on the spot, just as we did.
