Shmitt vs. LC mitt

My neighbor ( detailed his Suburban and his wife's Tahoe) raises sheep (amoung other livestock) - maybe I'll soap one up and chase it around his Chevy next time I detail. Thanks for the idea.

The review was good...I have read 4 so far and this was the negative one....but thats his opinion and I respect that....Edge had glue problems with the first ones coming out..they corrected it..I assume LC will also....second..the trapped grit up in the LC mitt..where would that grit be on a Schmitt..on the face of it with no where to go and may mar paint....I see that it can be used on 2 sides....the cubed side and the smooth side..no different than using a grout sponge....so dirty paint cubed side...clean paint smooth side or for glass....

I have a Schmitt..I like it but not crazy about it....would not use it on real dirt and gritty paint...I still like my woolies and Muppet Head MF mitts....

I will try the LC mitt for the honey comb grilles on my trucks....the concept and design looks good on them...the red foam is soft also..I have red LC pads and they are super soft....

But to fault a product on a review is not right...if I said the schmitt stunk would you throw yours out....just wait till it hits the market and gather info on it from the masses that buy it.....

I tried the Schmitt a few weeks ago and I'm sold on it. I've tried everything else but a sea sponge and I probably won't try that now that I have the Schmitt. The looks of the LC knock-off is like a Mother's powerball mated with a Schmitt - with less than desirable results. I know the AG forum of shills are all blathering about the wonderful new LC mitt, and for all you little "conspiracy" theory folks, how bout this - AG has a ton of $ invested that boat load of LC mitts they agreed to sell. Therefore, it "has" to be the next best thing since detail man discovered the bucket. I thought the review was fair and certainly made sense. Now, while I like shopping at AG, wide variety of products and fast delivery - I get kinda ill reading their forum and some of their descriptions for those over priced boutique products they manufacture, as they say - buyer beware.

Really? Obviously you haven't read the post in regards to the LC Mitt on AG.

Personally, I prefer the new mf *puffy* mitts over everything. I don't see the point in this new foam mitt craze. Chenille mitts are great when they are new, but they quickly dry up, fall apart, and scratch very easily. Sheepskin (wool) mitts are wonderful, and I have used them for years, but they don't last quite as long as the mf ones do, imo.

So, for me, it will be mf first and sheepskin second.

I agree. Which MF mitts do you prefer?

Ones like this one.

Those muppet mitts are nice, however, I really like the Vroom blue "micro-chenille" mitt at Target. They were just onsale, as well as those Vroom Large Yellow MF towels at 2/$8. Needless to say, I stocked up, I'm good for about a year or so I figure.

Well unlike the user on page 2 who doesn't like AG forum or their products, I find alot that they sell is better than all the professional bulk sized products which I refuse to use now and the prices are great on the LC plates and pads compared to the local supplier who doesn't stock all sizes and is three times the price or more.

Not to get off topic too far but I use four products from Detailers Pride, Wolfgang and Pinnacle professionally (gallons) and find the wolfgang tire gel to be along with Sonus, my favourite and eclipses all other high gloss gels or sprays in look, dry to touch and durability.

Now there is no way that I would go back to foam to wash the body but for wheels and tyres plus arches, I'll be getting four red LC ultra mitts and using my autopia discount (helps alot)

My favourite mitts are eurow Magic Mitts (extremely thick, hundreds of MF loops) and hold a tonne of solution, Sonus MF (meg's I think) and those that CG's sell.

I dislike the meg's gold class wheel brushes (even the spoke wheel one as the bristles are too far apart, not enough of them and doesn't suds)

I've been using a mr clean lambswool wheel brush and love it but it's worn out now (time for new one) and seasponges are not too bad. So the LC ultra mitts are going to be my preffered wheel wash medium

I'm sure that the lambswool brush and foam mitts will do a great job for me.

Best post EVAR

I just checked out AG's forum, the post I was referring to was that gushing review by "Surfer" notice where he's located. I see Shady posted his comparison there too, good! To the guys that like the "muppet heads" I call them dred locks with a crew cut but whatever, anyway - I tried those and in my opinion the Schmitt is much better, but it's silly to argue over a friggin wash thingie when poor Paris Hilton is wasting away behind bars, oh the humanity! And thanks "sneek" I try.

Good review. I don't particularly think it matters that you have some relationsip with EDGE. I personally use the shmitts, and when I saw the LC mitts on AG, i wasn't impressed with the appearance. Your review lives up to what my expectations were of this mitt.

Do those muppet head MF mitts trap debrit like standard MF wash mitts do? TIA

I find that they rinse fairly easily, maybe a little easier than the standard mf mitts do. I just used mine yesterday on my very dirty truck, and I could see the dirt on the mitt after each panel, and a quick rinse removed it very quickly and easily.

That being said, they don't rinse quite as easily as sheepskin mitts do, but they certainly clean better, and with less pressure, which is important when trying to avoid marring.
