Sheeting vs beading comparison

id rate this comparison as only somewhat conclusive. scott, could you possibly use another 5 series bmw for the beading picture.. too many variables make this test muddled.

since we're on the topic of beading and stuff... there's one weird observation that i found with just NXT.. about 2 months ago i detailed my sister's pathfinder and just used NXT with no prepwork. from there it's only been washed about a couple times by my sister using blue coral soap. when i sprayed the car down today, the car beaded like no tomorrow. which i find very weird because a majority of people and even myself, find that at about the 4th week the beading will start to sheet and the paint still start to squeak which means NXT has diminished.

so my question is did the NXT diminish? but if it did, how come the paint still beaded? although it wasn't as shiny and was full of swirls (which shows that the NXT wore out through the couple of washes) but the beading is tricking me. and no it's never been QD or WAUD, just raw wash and dry.

I have a 04 Lexus RX330 which is my daily driver. I washed, clayed, cleaned, polished and NXTed on 4/21/04.

Normally I redo my vehicles every month but since there was some controversy here about the durability of NXT I still have not renewed the surface.

While this vehicle is garaged every evening, it has had quite a 6 week run so far. Five washings (Gold Class Wash) and an average of 4 rains per week (very wet spring) and the paint still beads like crazy. The finish still feels slick and the dirt doesn't seem to stick which tells me that NXT is still performing nicely.

I'll hold off on redoing this vehicle for up to two more weeks to continue this durability test. Only problem is that all the wet weather has hatched a hoard of mosquitos that swarm any warm body. They seem to swarm around my face a lot. Arrrgh! I hate these things almost as much as I hate the smelly, oily repellent. Anyone have real experience with those propane powered traps? Worth the money?

Huh? Every single vehicle I have used EX-P on sheets like that and only EX-P sheets that well, although NXT does pretty decent too. This is just to show how it sheets with full force water compared to other products, nothing else. No determination of which product is better or if sheeting or beading is better. Some of you are reading way too much into this.

I took the pictures within 20 minutes of each other on vehicles with recent applications of the EX-P and Wolfgang (4 weeks on the BMW, 2 weeks on the Silverado). Both bead when water is sprayed into the air and allowed to settle on the vehicles like rain falls. It is only under full force blasting with water that I notice the fast sheeting with EX-P. If I remove the nozzle and let water slowly run over each vehicle, both will sheet very nicely, although the EX-P one sheets a bit more quickly.

BTW, the BMW is a 7 series and there isn't another on availabe at the guy's warehouse. Maybe the Rolls will work since it is also now a BMW product and it has Souveran on it.

On the Meguier's products I use the direction indicate to not blast with full force streams as it can remove / damage the protection that the wax provides. Do you find that not to be the fact or do you only do full force as a "test"?

It was just a test. I used a spray nozzle, not their pressure sprayer.
