shaving cream + vinyl convertable top = no bueno

so I have this client looking for me to remove the stains from the vinyl top on a older VW rabbit. the shaving cream sat on it over night, and its been about a month since it happened. the vinyl top is a white/cream color, and the stains look bleached...



how should I go about removing and reconditioning the vinyl top? think its repairable? sucks without pics I know...
 
Gosh if the stain looks bleached it's tough to say even if there's much that can be done, but of course I'm not expertise on convertible tops.
