Sharkwerks New GT3RS Correction

New car for uber tuners @ Sharkwerks, as I have had a relationship with them since 2004 when I did quarter mile missile "Black mamba"(Silly fast 996 Turbo) which Alex did not think could ever look new again..............he was wrong(Good for him though). It has been good to see them grow as a company and NO ONE is more honest than them and as they have added staff Dan and Emily.................things are good for a company which in this economy is still producing quality.

I will miss the outgoing car and glad it went to a local Porsche nut client of thiers(Sharkwerks) but the new car is "Bada**" and with the stuff planned it will be fun to watch. The car started out with a little "Patina" and pulling the painters tape off the car was fun(Not) and with the wash rocks from New Mexico and Arizona and all points from Midwest where they purchased the car littered my wash matt(Gave one to Dan as a "Keepsake").

Here it is at the beginning......................

003.jpg

004.jpg

Rear decklid with deep marring(I would later wetsand the entire decklid due to heavt orange peel which did not match the adjacent panels).

021.jpg

This bug was "Digging the Gulf Blue color scheme".

024.jpg

Wing and wind supports were removed for the wetsand phase of the job.

026.jpg

Starting out with holograms.

028.jpg

Deep scratches as well.

030.jpg

Factory clearfilm was not pretty either.

051.jpg

A little difficult to see, but heavy orange peel needed correction.

024.jpg

During sanding step.

028.jpg

Partly compounded.

031.jpg

Texture now matches other panels.

034.jpg

036.jpg

Marring.

037.jpg

50/50 shot of the same area.

038.jpg

Compounded and polished.

042.jpg

Richie Carbone was out to help with this car, here he is doing fine tape work so we could correct marring in and around the factory graphics.

044.jpg

045.jpg

048.jpg

Deep scratches on the leading edge of the rear bumper.

047.jpg

Looking good.

050.jpg

Rear bumper was hammered.

051.jpg

All better.............

053.jpg

Wet sand scratches I DID NOT put in..............but took out, common for all rear bumpers on Gen 2 997 GT3/RS.

054.jpg

"Factory scratches de-installed"

057.jpg

Remember the factory clearfilm..................now it is looking like new.

010.jpg

Rear decklid looking sharp again, later Alex would give the GT3RS factory sticker sans the template...................not fun lining that up as I had one shot at it.

021.jpg

Time to correct the marring on the underside of the wing.

027.jpg

029.jpg

Topside of the wing was not looking so hot either.

030.jpg

Alex & James checking on the progress................as they have a few mod's going on..............understatement of the year.

035.jpg

Had Vince from Omega Tint come in and supplement the clearfilm coverage for a full front quarter and doors/rockers.

044.jpg

051.jpg

Pulling out in "Superclean" condition.

052.jpg

053.jpg

055.jpg

056.jpg

Alex taking "Bluefin" back to thier shop down the street for James to put the links and other suspension goodies on while the HRE's were being mounted up.

058.jpg

After james put the car on the lift they brought back the OE wheels and tires along with the HRE's.

065.jpg

Kevin my old shop foreman from Performance Art and Alek my next door neighbor taking off the OE tires.

068.jpg

071.jpg

New HRE's ready to go.

072.jpg

073.jpg

Wheels were "Matchmounted" then loadforce balanced by the "General" (Kevin Patton).

074.jpg

Back at Sharkwerks, sa the wheels were off I cleaned up the wheel wells.

009.jpg

After.

010.jpg

Factory "GT3RS" sticker lined up and affixed.

That's looking insane, Bob.... can't wait to see what they end up doing to it! The GT3RS is beast-enough in stock form, I can only imagine a heavily modded one will be wicked.

I looooove the car, and the blue, and the condition you got it to...

as for the orange, I think it's a bit odd in my opinion?!

Great Job! The guys at Sharkwerks are top notch and really know Porsche's. I have been following there posts on Rennlist.com and 6speedonline.com of the US tour when they purchased the car. It should be fun to see what kinds of mods they have planned for the "Bluefin"

Love the blue! But the orange wheels.......nah. RC need glasses after that tedius tape work? I think my eyes would have crossed.

Just wanted to say a BIG BIG thank you to Bob @ Autoconcierge. Seriously guys I like to think I drive and put my cars through some serious hell (see below for videos in case you don't believe me) and yet somehow he is always able to keep 'em looking so good at the same time. You're one in a million mate. Also a big props to Alekshop too. I'm so glad he's close by to me. I send all my BMW chums over to him- great guy and amazing quality of work.

For those of you that asked here's a few pictures with those lighter-weight HRE's mounted:
