Does the oxy clean really work on carpet stains? Never had much success on stains with it in my house? Great job overall though.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone! They truly do mean a lot.

JCrawford and KHMPalading for Carpets I:

I can't seem to find the article I wrote up about it, but in short, it goes like this.

-Mix 2 scoops OxyClean (or Shout OxyPower) with 2 gallons into a bucket

-Pretreat all carpets with generous amounts of Simple Green (if smelly) or Woolite:Water Mixture (if just dirty)

-Massage the Oxy Mixture into all upholstery with a stiff bristled nylon brush going front to back, side to side

-Once you're done with the whole interior, you can let it sit and soak if you want

-I use a 5.0hp ShopVac with the filter removed to suck all the water mixture out.

-To get the cool lines, go in all one direction first, then go to one side and gently go over the surface from top to bottom coming down in angles.

Hope this helps.

TOGWT: I definately didn't mean to offend your vehicle. I mean the building materials are top notch. Leather and wood everywhere. But the solidness like a BMW or Mercedes I just didn't feel. Maybe because it's 7 years old and he didn't treat it that well?

On another note, like I said, this guy shares an office with my dad's company. He mentioned how the Jag dealer charges less for the "same job" in his opinion. Well, I didn't mention to him how I had to fix all the damn buffer burns on the horizontal surfaces. Anyways, this is business :)

GSR, you made a truely awesome transformation on that Jag. Don't let the owner get to you, some people just don't get very excited over anything.

So does the OxyClean and water with Woolite work everytime? I'm very interested in using this combo.

Robert

RobertM: I have never needed to use anything else. It gets 90% of the stains out...and the rest, will probably never come out!

I will take a picture tomorrow for you guys of something that I picked up at Walmart a few weeks ago. It's an Oxy carpet cleaner, that is doing wonders so far. It could be very similar to what GSRstilez makes up and I am sure it will cost alot less. The bottle is in the car and I am lazy to go downstairs. I have to eat now!

tdekany: Yeah I know I should've said something. I will be calling him about doing his wife's truck and if he brings up my pricing I will mention how I had to fix other people's mistakes.

I am interested in seeing this Oxy carpet cleaner and pictured results :)

sorry I have no pictures of the result - I am going to take a picture of the product.

My neighbor spilled some tomato sause on the backseat of her car while picking up some italian food I think and I was leaving and we parked next to each other. She stopped me and asked if I could suggest anything to get it out. I had the Cxy cleaner in the car so I went to get it, sprayed the areas, waited about 20 seconds and wiped it with a MFT. the seat looked brand new. this was the second time I used it.

I just got my Permit today and my business cards came in yesterday. My insurance done too.

I'll be taking before & after pix when detailng.

I know what OXY stuff you are talking about, never tried it though. Just looks like a big armor all bottle (spray, not the little cylinder) and has different stickers on it, i might have to try that if it works that well.

Great work GSR. Sounds like the guy you detailed for was kind of a hothead that doesn't really know anything about car detailing. I mean the comments about removing the scratch with compound when he gets home and the dealer doing the "same job". Doesn't seem very tactful at all, and surely has no real detail knowledge. Great job anyway man!:xyxthumbs

Thanks for the encouraging words :up . I really do not know what his deal is, but his wife absolutely loved the job :)

Here is the picture of this magical product.. It was on sale, but can't recall the price. I'd say it was a couple of bucks.

What beautiful work!

If the guy doesn't like it, screw him. I'd have told him exactly what the Jag dealer did to his car. Not nastily, just mentioned "Actually, I removed several buffer burns from previous poor quality detailing jobs". I had a similar experience the other day, a family member of a customer asked me what a local carwash charges for a wax, mentioned what the dealer charges. I replied that you can always find someone to do something for less, but that doesn't mean the service will be as good. The quality of what I am doing and the time I'm spending on each car speaks for itself, I don't compete with dealerships and carwashes that do rushed high volume work. For most customers this impresses them and earns me their respect, for some it makes them mad and I don't hear from them again. Thats a-okay in my book as I wouldn't want them as customers anyways, the carwash can have em.

Steve: Well put! I will be calling him this week to do his wife's Expedition. We'll see if anything is mentioned :)

He strikes me like he's full of it though. If the dealership does the same work for less, why is he having you detail the Expedition when this wonderful dealership is out there that does professional quality work at 13 year old down the block prices? Some people just think you should never let people know when they've impressed you because if you do they'll stop trying. my guess is he was more impressed than he let on ;)

hehe - He should have kissed your feet GSR :) - My dad is a Jag collector from way back - he says ever since they were $$$ by Ford Quality is no longer job one.
